I made plans to spend the entire week in NY because, hi, NEW YORK. I found out the day before I left that Loralee was also in town early and we thought it only logical (and awesome) to meet up for dinner.

Casey had flight delays and decided to stay with Loralee instead of heading out to her friend's late at night.

It was good to see these two ladies and get caught up a wee bit. More to come, I'm sure.

Or even lack of thinking. Is it logical that the whole world was made by an accident or just some chemical, physical or geological reactions which started to react by themselves ?! This magnificent organization and illustration of the world is absolutely a result of a great power that beats any form of power and energy, and that's the power of God.

Thank God we believe in faith.

For Roger Hodgson's final song - It's Raining Again. He mentioned the prevalance of rain around Seattle a couple times, including when he arrived, saying "I'll save Raining Again for the end". The only song he played with a rock and roll beat.

Besides it, I liked his hits most:

Give a Little Bit

Dreamer

It's Raining Again

Take the Long Way Home

Breakfast In America

The Logical Song (my favorite):

When I was young

It seemed that life was so wonderful

A miracle, oh it was beautiful, magical

And all the birds in the trees

Well they'd be singing so happily

Joyfully, playfully watching me

But then they send me away

To teach me how to be sensible

Logical, responsible, practical

And then they showed me a world

Where I could be so dependable

Clinical, intellectual, cynical

There are times when all the world's asleep

The questions run too deep for such a simple man

Won't you please, please tell me what we've learned?

I know it sounds absurd but please tell me who I am

I say, "Now what would you say for they calling you a radical

Liberal, fanatical, criminal?"

Won't you sign up your name? We'd like to feel you're

Acceptable, respectable, presentable, a vegetable

Oh, ch-ch-check it out yeah

At night when all the world's asleep

The questions run so deep for such a simple man

Won't you please, please tell me what we've learned?

I know it sounds absurd but please tell me who I am

Who I am, who I am, who I am

The logical end result of Mayor Daley's love of planters, wrought iron, and themed streetscapes, accurately & expensively depicting a sleepy but neighborly area very far from downtown. Ironically, it's so sleepy that Mayor Daley quite famously forgot about this area once.

My build list is lengthy and downright insane, but surprisingly logical when you look at it. I want to start representing the Nickel Plate Road with preserved examples of locomotives and rolling stock that serve as "touchtstones" for connecting with the past of a wider system. One car was the 1937 AAR steel boxcar, with its 10ft interior. Work on this car kicked off for Boxcar-O-Rama 2024, when I was tasked with making a car for Brandon Burt. I had come off the heels of building Cale's revised PS-1, and used that as a jumping off point to work backwards through the evolutionary chain of the 40ft steel boxcars of the Nickel Plate Road. NKP 15797 and 15979 are preserved as a pair at the Hoosier Valley Railroad Museum, and I thought it would be a bit of fun to build the pair and give one away, but keep them together for the Nickel Plate Road Historical & Technical Society's convention. As of writing, 15979 was mailed away and Pere Marquette 72332 built by Matthew O'Brien. Looking forward to the day the pair can be reunited.

Toronto's BIXI Bikes may be a logical solution to urban commuting but there's nothing like "owning" your own Electra to commute in style.

Think of it as always having to use those rental bowling shoes as opposed to owning your own snazzy leathers that fit perfectly.

Or, having sex with a prostitute/gigolo/escort/slut when you can develop a rewarding relationship with someone that hasn't been used by others.

Then again if you're into "sharing" .. hey there.

So many people get this wrong! The thumb needs to be stuck OUT!

(If you notice the light blue book over my left shoulder, it's title is "Being Logical", lol.)

(I wonder if the NSA is scanning this to get my fingerprints)

(You see those psychology/self-help books? Most of them were suggested to me by a psychologist. That's why so many people are emotional dumpster fires and I'm not.)

Launched in 1953, the 403 was a logical development of the original 400 model, a superb pre-war design that Bristol had effectively inherited from BMW.

It shared the same exquisitely crafted aerodynamic body as the preceding 401, Carrozzeria Touring of Milan providing the Superleggera method of construction that overlaid alloy panels on a lightweight tubular-steel framework. Looking years ahead of its time, the 401 was only really let down by a lack of power, and it was this aspect of the car that the 403 was designed to redress.

The BMW-based 2-litre six-cylinder engine, with its ingeniously arranged, pushrod-operated, inclined valves, was retained but a new alloy cylinder head, the use of bigger valves and larger main bearings raised the power from 85bhp to 100bhp giving the 403 a top speed in excess of 100mph. To cope with the extra performance the running gear was also revised with a front anti-roll bar and finned light-alloy brake drums. The gearbox remained a manual four-speed unit with first-gear freewheel.

“This is truly a car to give joy and well-merited pride of possession to the connoisseur, for besides its many sensible and well-made features and its vivid performance, it handles well, possesses a delightful gearchange and is an exceedingly comfortable and restful car to drive,” said MotorSport, who went on to declare it: “The Best Car in Britain”.

October Photo a Day: 9 October

My logical choice was to take a photo of a cap or jersey I own of my favorite baseball team, the St. Louis Cardinals. They're in the playoffs now, so it would have been appropriate (and I LOVE their logos and the bright red of the uniform and cap). But when I sat down at my desk today at work, something else caught my eye: my red Swingline stapler, an office classic that was even featured in one of my favorite comedy movies, Office Space. So I decided that the red Swingline stapler would be my subject for today's theme!

The Next Logical Step

My trusty PowerShot, and my new (used) Rebel XT. They'll go everywhere together. My daughter-in-law, Ari, gave me the Rebel with a 50 mm lens as an early birthday present. (She couldn't wait!) Thanks, Ari! The last two photos in my stream are from the Rebel. :-)
