BIG hair day today. Guess I'll visit my German barber Herr Kutt tomorrow.
Today on my photography course, we did a bit of photoshop, particularly liquify. And yes it's on elements too.
Thanks to Chris George for lighting and modeling for this really excellent Photograph by me. Okay I know you now know how crazy I really am. You can see some of his great photos at:

I used the liquify tool to "fix" something.
Hint: having a pregnant woman stand there for the whole day under the sun is not exactly a good idea.
In addition to using the glass blocks, liquify, and lighting effects I also manipulated the hues and saturation. The effect reminded me of molten gold or gold leaf.

It all started with this tutorial www.learnmyshot.com/How-to-create-Abstract-Effect-using-D.... Funny how things transition from what you begin to create to what you end up with.
I could not find the same sorts of objects as were used in the tutorial. I found my son's "Gismod's", I think they're called, and began to try and create a "pile" with them. Then I found a desk lamp that was portable and easy to move around for some white harsh light. I set my camera on a tripod, held the light above the pile of toys and took several shots, playing with location of the light and trying to capture some shadows. I placed a cherry on top of the green toy in the background just to have something different in the shot.
I cropped in LR3, edited tones just a bit and then went to PSE 8. There, I used the "Liquify" filter and began watching the toys change shape. That is a really fun tool! After playing with that a bit, I added a Gradient Fill to add some fun color to the white background, adjusted the opacity to 19%, then went back to LR to adjust dark and light tones.
This is not even close to what I started out to create but it was fun all the same.
This is an experiment using the liquify feature of photoshop. There is much to learn about photoshop and I never fully recognized what liquify can do until today.
Ribeira (Oporto- Portugal) >>>>> Welcome to LIQUIFY. It's my new set of pic, and is all about urban spaces, deconstruct, expressionism and I-get-no-kick-from-champagne kind of things.
Silly stuff...
" Assigned: 3.8.10 Due 3.17.10. Unit: Caricature Objective(s): Using the liquify filter, create a before and after photo. Photograph yourself, or parent. Look at the classroom examples and others on the internet. Most caricatures are exaggerations of parts of the face, i.e. the nose, ears, mouth, eyes and brows, etc. Political ones are very prevalent."

One of my entries for a Photoshop competition a couple of years ago, the idea of which was to create a caricature of a famous person. I manipulated Bruce's image to fit to the large-jawed, small-brain-capacity comic book-style hero.
My lawyers want me to point out that I think he's a great actor and this is most definitely a compliment.
Bruce, let's do lunch sometime.
Was trying out a few prime lenses at a local camera shop. kel saw something she liked over to the left .....
This is the girl in the photo previous ... Changed the eyes a bit lol

Climate activists from 350 Mass and other local climate change groups held a protest at the Danversport Yacht Club where the North Shore Chamber of Commerce was holding its “Business Insight Breakfast: Energy Forum.” The breakfast focused on renewable energy and featured speaker from Enbridge and National Grid. According to protesters both Enbridge and National grid have failed to transition to clean energy and are greenwashing the public by refusing to make hard commitments to immediately transition off fossil fuels. Enbridge and National Grid continue to fund fossil fuel projects. Enbridge built a gas compressor in Weymouth, MA despite local concerns about safety of the surrounding community and constructed Line 3 in Minnesota through untouched wetlands and the treaty territories of Anishinaabe peoples and is currently under investigation for aquifer breaches while National Grid is constructing pipelines and replacing liquified natural gas vaporizers as well as investing billions in gas pipelines.

I am sick.
For the first time I tried photoshopping my face. At first I just wanted to make the double chin look less dramatic, what I ended up with was this truly over-worked photo on the right, obviously I am not really good at photoshop. Is that what I would look like if I lost...well, let's just say A LOT of weight... I guess this can be a good photo to remind myself to lose weight, that I can actually look like the girl on the right.
I'm on my way to bed, so all I'll say is, I got a lot of stuff done today... most importantly the podcast... and watched "Fear and Loathing and Las Vegas... and for an extra bit of strangeness.. Tam made me watch some more Hey Gabba Gabba.
Now that I'm done with this... I wish I hadn't been lazy about taking this in my white t-shirt.... but I don't care. I'm off to bed.
Oh.. by the way, that little sunburn I got last week... it shows up in the podcast... I'm a bit crispy... and if you view this large... you can see what else it's doing.. gross!

After drawing a triangle in a sketch-landscape with felt-tip markers, I took a picture of it at my sunny-side apartment window. I then played around with it in Photoshop, finally trying the liquify filter. This is the result. Cool, huh?

I used liquify to pull up her top a little more. I had to- I loved this one too much to scrap it... but it was still showing too much skin for this mom. Can you totally tell? Eff.

You can turn a photo into an alien in Photoshop You just need some patience. You can do it too. The tutorial is here : photoshopper27.blogspot.com/2010/08/alien-with-photoshop....
