An ink drawing I did a few years ago. Now it is reference for a new reduction linocut I have started working on.

Berlin based Andy Runball is a photographer and fine artist. He's produced a series of Linocuts celebrating some of the greatest names in cycling.

I will be working on these in the forthcoming lessons, and plan to add a colour gradient from cool red to warm red across the two spreads which open as a concertina.

The details in the laser cut block were too fine so I decided to handcut a block instead. Negative space is so much more important than positive space in block printing.

I used the same color inks on all four

prints. I have printed them on mulberry

paper.
