New York, Chicago & St. Louis RR 2-8-4 (NKP) No. 779 is on display at Lincoln Park in Lima. It's supposedly the last steam locomotive built by Lima Locomotive Works in 1949. Looking at 779 up close it's hard to imagine sister engine 765 which I chased a decade ago back home as the same size.
With a colorful lash-up and a very healthy train, the Lima South Local heads down the former DT&I and crosses the former PRR at Sugar Street.

La casa è stata di proprietà e vissuta dalla famiglia Aliaga e dai loro discendenti da quando Franzisco Pizarro concesse la terra a Jerónimo de Aliaga nel 1535. The "Casa de Aliaga" is the oldest Colonial mansion in Lima, maybe even in whole South America. The house has been owned and lived in by the Aliaga family and their descendants since Franzisco Pizarro granted the land to Jerónimo de Aliaga in 1535. Originally there was a pre-Colombian altar on that plot of land owned by "Curaca Tauli Chusco" (the reign of the Rimac valley).

You would figure that real estate in Lima lining the path from the Bridge of Sighs, Barranco's most famous landmark, to the beach would be in high demand. But the majority of buildings are either shuttered and abandoned or converted in to low rent hostels for backpackers.
