This ex MOD Air portable is in a sorry state having sat for years, the canvas roof caving in won’t help its chances of seeing the road again sadly
Lightweight stunner. The second star of the show; with the LP670SV being the crowd favourite. Perhaps the only problem with the Porsche is the way it looks. Too easily mistaken as 'just another' 911.
This was perhaps my favourite shot from last weekend. What do you think of the shot and edit?
Derby Lightweight 1954 built DMCL M79612 and it's partner DMBS M79018, stand in platform 1 at Wirksworth allowing visitors the opportunity to view the restoration progress of this historic unit.
After wiithdrawal this former West Cumberland twin set passed into departmental service as the The Ultrasonic Test Train, DB975007 & DB975008 and as a result of its 30 year career in departmental service found its way into preservation.
Taken on the occasion of excellent Ecclesbourne Valley Railway's Multiple Memories 2020 weekend.
14th March 2020
A view taken on a Saturday afternoon in June 1987 overlooking the long closed station at Talacre. A brace of Class 108 2-car DMU sets with DTCL 54484 leading was working the BR Table 83 14:40 Holyhead to Crewe that would then work onwards to Derby [Table 80 on Fridays and Saturdays only].
Talacre station was opened in May 1903 after the widening of this section of the North Wales main line. Only the outer slow lines were served, being accessed via wooden stairs from the road overbridge and each platform was equipped with basic waiting shelters for passengers.
The station was closed in 1966, with subsequent track rationalisation seeing the slow lines removed apart from a section of the up slow line [to the right of the DMU] that served as a head shunt [shunt neck] for the MGR trains that served the nearby Point Of Colliery.

TRIBAL CANOE JOURNEYS 2014 QATUWAS FESTIVAL 2014 - Bella Bella, British Columbia, Canada
The Spiritual and Cultural Meaning of the Traditional Sea Going Canoe
was reignited close to three decades ago, when the Heiltsuk Nation paddled their canoe (the Glwa) 500 kilometers from Bella Bella to Vancouver for Expo 86.
Soon after that groundbreaking voyage, Tribal Journey’s was born. Tribal Journeys have since transformed thousands of aboriginal youth, exposing them to the forces of nature on the open sea as their forefathers have done for generations. It has helped them to reconnect with their culture and heritage, and given them renewed confidence as contemporary First Nation’s people with a longstanding history.
On their voyages, the pullers have gained respect for the ocean’s power and learned to work together as a team. They have embraced traditional ecological practices, environmental stewardship, and learned the vital aspects of weather patterns and tides. The rigorous training and dedication have improved the physical and mental health of many aboriginal youth, helping to prepare them for a more successful life.
Join thousands of international visitors and witness The Tribal Canoe Journeys 2014 Qatuwas Festival. From July 13th to 19th, over 100 traditional canoes and 1000 pullers from nearby villages and as far away as Hawaii and New Zealand, will make the journey by sea to the Heiltsuk nation in Bella Bella.

Webb discerned distinct star clusters in the Firefly Sparkle galaxy, which existed 600 million years after the big bang - the first discovery of an actively forming galaxy as lightweight as the young Milky Way. The gravity of a massive foreground galaxy cluster has magnified and stretched Firefly Sparkle's star clusters into a line of bright sparks, giving it its name. For Webb to resolve a galaxy from so early in the universe, let alone to see its distinct components, is extraordinary.
These clusters of star formation are the Firefly Sparkle galaxy’s building blocks. The analysis of the colors confirms that the star formation didn’t happen all at once, but was staggered over time, with each clump of stars at a different phase of formation or evolution. Another piece of evidence that the galaxy is still in the process of forming is that the projected actual shape of the galaxy shows its stars haven’t settled into a central bulge or thin, flattened disk. Other galaxies detected by Webb from this time period in the Universe’s history are much more massive than the Firefly Sparkle, which itself is more similar in mass to what our Milky Way’s might have been at this same stage of development.

Image description: Horizontal split down the middle. At left is a galaxy cluster showing thousands of overlapping objects at various distances spread across this field. The background is black. The galaxies’ colors vary, including white, pink, orange, and blue. Most galaxies appear as ovals or dots. Just above center is a bright white oversized oval, a supergiant elliptical galaxy. Immediately around it are many thin, long orange or pink arcs. These are background galaxies that have been stretched and distorted. To the bottom right is the outline of a small box. On the right side is a zoomed in view of this area. There are two smaller circles flanking a larger oval at the center. The central oval is labeled Firefly Sparkle galaxy. Within it is a long line, roughly pointing from bottom left to top right that contains 10 circular star clusters in pink, purple, and blue. The galaxy to the bottom left is labeled Companion 1 and looks like a bright red dot. At top right, Companion 2 is lighter red and surrounded by a red disk.
The Lotus Festival didn't have any shortage of Lotus Exiges, especially the new ones using the V6 engine from an Evora. This one was parked near the Paddock seating area, and the clouds were pretty much like that, where a stormfront came in, but at least the rain missed us.
345 BHP comes out of this car, which sounds like quite a decent amount. Account the just over 1 tonne of car, and performance is frighteningly fast. 168 MPH, and 0-60 MPH in just 3.7 seconds....

Three of Guernseybus' Bristol LH fleet are seen parked up outside the depot in St.Peter Port. The coaches were used for private hire, hotel transfers and so on. Most bus services were in the hands of ex-London Transport "BL" class Bristol LHs, such as no. 61 in the centre. The narrow roads of Guernsey meant the States of Guernsey ordered that no vehicles wider than 7'6" could be used.
The buses shown here are (left to right) 157 (31909), new to Soudley Valley as JFH473N, 61(31928) new to London Transport as BL43 (OJD 43R) and 171 (31921) new to Western National as 3316 (AFJ 736T).

Derby Lightweight M79612 is a Driving Trailer Composite Lavatory of aluminium construction. Built in the early 1950s, the vehicle featured 53 third class seats (now second) and 9 first class seats. Having operated services in the West Cumbernauld area until the late 1960s, the vehicle was taken into Departmental service as the Ultrasonic Test Train, paired with 79018, which has allowed it to survive into the preservation era. Withdrawn in the 1990s wearing Departmental livery and in a heavily modified state, the set was taken to Doncaster Works for extensive asbestos removal. This process left both vehicles as an empty shell. The vehicle was taken with completely restored partner 79018 to the Railcar50 event at the Severn Valley Railway in 2004 when it featured as an example of an unrestored vehicle, showing visitors the start point of a project. Work began on the restoration in the late 2000s, with a complete rewiring, bogey overhauls and the fabrication of internal bulkhead partitions. Having moved to the Ecclesbourne Valley Railway, the restoration has continued with the refurbishment of the running gear, electrical work and now fitment of a new interior to allow all three remaining Derby Lightweights operate together.

As many a holiday in North Wales is inclined to be, the day I took this picture was one of severely contrasting weather conditions. One minute we had blue sky, the next it would be black and turbulent punctuated by bolts of lightening, rolling thunder and all followed by torrential downpours. Seemingly one of the best places to be in those circumstances was underground, so the family 'R' adjourned to Llechwedd Slate Caverns at Blaenau Ffestiniog. On arrival we were greeted by these two late generation 'lightweight' coaches and a coach park over which the tide appeared to be encroaching. On the right is a Plaxton Supreme IV bodied Bedford YMT ... a contemporary inependent's favourite, owned by Minsterley Motors and on the left a practically new Ford R series with Plaxton Paramount 'Express' bodywork belonging to well respected Derbyshire independent Andrews of Tideswell. This era of Ford coach, an R1115, represented Ford UK's final foray into full size coaches before leaving the market. Soon afterwards rival volume producer GM owned Bedford would follow suit.
One of my best and most used Raincoat.Really waterproof, and belief me,it proofed it many times in real heavy weather!

Small Starfighter contest entry #2
Surprised myself with a second offering and an attempt at a vertical fighter. It's actually about 60 degrees, but close enough...
Equipped with vectored thrust, two blasters and dual missile pods, it was also one of the earlier, and occasionally effective, attempts at a totally thought-controlled starfighter.
