The new journey begins....
Been AGES since I headed out to make new light painting work on my own, and for myself. My favourite form of therapy!
Managed to squeeze in a couple of hours of LP in the blackout studio today and learned so much about so many new tools. I’m so excited!

Flame Grilled
Light painting photoshoot with electro/acoustic music producer 'Oxford Parker'. Side lighting through the grill from a Convoy S2+ for 1.5secs. Backlighting with a Denis Smith made Arclight - Fireblade connected to a @ryuslightworks flashlight (on 2nd output level, and 26Hz strobe). f/5.6, 55secs, ISO400. Post processed from RAW exposure in Adobe Lightroom 6. No photoshop!

It's been a while since I've posted something, that's because something has changed; I started shooting on film and, lately, some point and shoot, trying to shoot less but better.

A lone traveler arrives on her ancient and long-deserted home planet in search of her race's most sacred treasure.
Why was it deserted, you ask?
For the same reason she brought her lightblade.

6.) Too bad I had to dismantle My Eurobricks HSH entry, though. (Which has just topped well over 200 faves and ranked fourth in the contest.*yay!*)
This ship was cannibalized of its purple dishes to make the entry and I've only just reconstructed it. ;)
7.) Oops, looks like I made another gray-skinned treasure hunter. Definitely not intentional. :P
8.) For those patiently waiting for The Journey to get back online, I'll have you know that now that the aforementioned EB entry has been parted and the essential pieces for making SNOT bases are back in circulation, I will build and upload another episode just as soon as I decide which of a couple key plot points is the best to incorporate. I hope it doesn't scare you all that I don't really know what I'm doing. ;D
9.) :sigh: Another spaceship based entirely on the principle of, “You will sit here until you incorporate ALL these parts into one coherent spaceship!” I'm pretty sure one of the AFOLs in the recent IB seed part reveal mentioned something about that, and I totally know the feeling. Good thing my next spaceship was premeditated. ;)
10.) I'll upload the now-mandatory spacescene, detail pics, etc. when I get the time. :)
11.) I hope you all enjoy this! C&C is always appreciated around here as I need as much as I can get to feed Chrysalis and the Unikitties. ;)
Which way is up?
A night of messing around looking for new effects.
I enjoy working on such things at home as a bit of a proving ground for when I get out into the night.
This was a triple axis rotation with differing starting positions for either side and the middle element.
100% concentration required to remember all the steps.

I moved into the garage studio to try my hand at a more compact area using just blades on a black background. Pretty happy with my first nights efforts...lots to learn though....like trying to stay within the cameras frame.

Another one of the cool goodies Paul from LACE kindly sent me combined with some camera rotation.
4 way rotation of laser cut hexagons backed with rainbow card, blind pan to the LP Brushed diamond plexi rotated on another light stand whilst rotating the camera.
Cheers again dude. Having new stuff to shoot makes this year's project a little less repetitive.

This one popped in my head today but I wasn't sure how I was to obtain the rays of light. After much faffing about this is as close as I got.
Shot during a single long exposure in my kitchen.
More lp tonight. I just can't stop. I thought it was high time I worked on the old portraiture lighting too as it's been a while.
This one inspired bu Hannu H and Darren H's recent awesome work with the light blades mixed with portraiture.
Strobing torch with diy light blade attached to a bracket on my camera rotation tool. I also took the normal handle off so I could attach my cordless drill for a more uniform spin.
Did the light blade aspect first then took up position so it looked like I was wearing the light and popped my flash through my socked beauty dish on 1/16th.
I quite liked the colour version but the mono conversion edged it.
More of this type of faffing to come.

Hexed
Paul from @lace sent me a very kind gift which arrived yesterday. I waited for darkness to fall and got my gear set up.
It was a very cool hexagonally shaped light blade with a 3d printed collar which fits inside my universal connector.
I was in a rush as we were heading out for bonfire night so this was the first and last of the evening.
Thanks very much for the kindness mate a catch you soon.

Slipping Halo
I set out to shoot earlier on this evening but as soon as I switched my camera on the battery died. An hour's charging later and I was ready to formulate a plan. Shelling out 60 odd quid on a spare battery doesn't appeal.
I shot this one then proceeded to shoot for another half an hour only to decide on this one.
I like the monochromatic, almost horror feel to this one but I'm definitely not a fan of the camera angle.
Physiogram spin using a strobing torch and mini pill blade whilst I held as still as possible.

I have an idea... crazy, as usual :) I decided to paint portraits of my friends! When I close my eyes, I definitely see everyone, as bright as light. Their character, their smile, their gait and mostly their voice.
