Usually with my displays I like to include some weapons and components that can help explain the history of the theme of that display.
For my Portuguese Air Force display, I made a few engines that were used by the Aircraft, some of them quite famous.
1-The first engine is the American Allison J33 centrifugal-flow jet engine which was used on the T-33 T-Bird;
2-The second engine is the mythical Rolls-Royce Merlin which was used on the Spitfire and the Hurricane fighters;
3-The powerful Pratt & Whitney R-2800 Double Wasp was widely used by Portugal on many different Aircrafts, namely the P-47 Thunderbolt, the Douglas A-26 Invader, PV-2 Harpoon and the Douglas DC-6.
4-The Wright R-2600 Twin Cyclone was only used on the Portuguese Air Force to power the Curtiss Helldiver bomber;
5-The General Electric J85 was another American engine which was used on the Northrop T-38 Talon Jet Trainer;
6-The General Electric J47 was used to power the F-86 Sabre; Portugal was the last NATO operator of this aircraft.
It´s important to mention that the engines aren´t all made to the same scale, some are larger than the real examples (like the Merlin and the R-2600) to better show and explain how the engine worked. The smaller engines are meant to be exhibited with the Aircraft models that I make.

The Sikorsky HH-60G Pave Hawk is a twin-turboshaft engine helicopter in service with the United States Air Force. It is a derivative of the UH-60 Black Hawk and incorporates the US Air Force PAVE electronic systems program. This model depicts the tri-color “European One” camouflage scheme, which was used by the USAF until 2003.
this model was heavily inspired by the amazing blackhawk model from Project Azazel
Multirole New Generation Jet -1. Affectionately known as "Mingi", with its official designation "Menace", it is a sixth-generation multi-role jet, mainly offensive in nature. The "Menace" was developed in parallel with the "ArrowHead" jet, from which it takes the style of the front fuselage. The "Menace" will have to operate offensively by attacking and neutralizing targets outside national borders. The MNGJ, therefore, can operate as a raider, reconnaissance aircraft, fighter-bomber, and air supremacy jet, depending on the armaments installed. The "Menace" is equipped with the latest avionics technologies and latest-generation sensors, including advanced stealth capabilities and very low infrared signature. It has a top speed of Mach 2.1, an operational range of 1150 km, and a payload of 30 tons (fuel included). Its armament, the same as its brother "ArrowHead", includes air-to-air missiles and air-to-ground missiles (laser, infrared and radar guided, both long and medium-short range), bunker-busters, cruise missiles, anti-ship missiles, and general-purpose bombs. This model completes the "trident": Y-02 "Vanguard" (offense and defense, aircarrier-based), NGF-1 "ArrowHead" (defense, ground-based), MNGJ-1 "Menace" (offense, ground-based).
In 2018, Portugal removed from service the last Dornier Alpha Jet advanced jet trainer; this left a gap on the Portuguese Air Force training program because there wasn´t a plane for the new pilots to transition between the rapidly ageing Aerospatiale Epsilons and the F-16B MLU trainer variants of the Fighting Falcon. This forced Portuguese pilots to travel to the United States to train on the Northrop T-38 Talons, an aircraft that the Portuguese Air Force had removed from service in 1993!
On December 2024, it was decided to purchase a squadron of twelve Super Tucano´s from Embraer to solve that issue. Production was extremely rapid and on the 31 of August 2025, the first three A-29Ns arrived in Portugal after a long ferry flight over the Atlantic. The new aircraft will be upgraded and equipped with NATO exclusive equipment at OGMA, the former Portuguese Air Force Main maintenance facility, currently acquired by Embraer.
It´s possible that this acquisition will be the first of many similar ones from other NATO nations; the United States already purchased some of them (combat tested in Afghanistan) and many European Nations need to replace their ageing propeller aircraft with new more advanced designs.

The Y-02 "Vanguard" is a air superiority and interceptor stealth fihting jet built by Goosetrop Industries for Plighia military air force, to replace the old Y-01 designed during the Cold War. The Y-02 is a variable geometry wing jet capable of reaching 2600 km / h and capable of landing and taking off from an aircraft carrier, demonstrating great versatility. The Y-02 is equipped with the latest technologies in avionics and warfare, capable of penetrating deeply into enemy territory without being detected, or launching to detect any hostile aircraft that violates the allied airspace. Among its features we also find internal compartments for missiles of all kinds, plus external hooks to the bulkheads of these compartments, to deploy additional armaments or accessories. Finally, the Y-02 is equipped with an advanced on-board computer equipped with AI and deep-learning capabilities, which makes it capable of operating without the aid of the pilot, if the latter is incapacitated, and, in some cases , operate as an unmanned drone, with the ability to observe the battlefield at 360 degrees thanks to cameras positioned on the fuselage.
Between 2024 and 2025, I made a small Aircraft Display about the Plane Projects developed in Switzerland during the XX Century. Of the seven Planes that I made, only one (the EKW C-36 ground attack aircraft) saw operational service.
Surrounded by Belligerent Nations, Switzerland was forced to develop a series of indigenous Aircraft projects to protect its sacred neutrality, both during the Second World War and the Cold War.
Although some of those designs were quite advanced and, in many ways, ahead of the time, they always failed to secure financial support by the Swiss government at the exact time because (usually) it was cheaper to purchase another Plane design abroad.

The A-29 “Super Tucano” is a turboprop light ground attack aircraft that can also be used as an advanced trainer. It was designed and built in Brazil by Embraer and made it´s first flight in 1999.
With more than 260 units produced and operated by more than 20 nations around the World, the Super Tucano has proved to be an extremely effective, reliable and affordable aircraft. Powered by a 1,600 shp (1,200 kW) Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6A-68C engine, it carries one 12,7mm (.50 cal) heavy machine gun on each wing and a maximum bomb load of 1500kg of bombs, rockets and missiles.
In April 2023, Embraer launched the brand new A-29N variant equipped with a series of advanced systems and aimed at NATO nations. The highly advanced cockpit with state of the art display are perfect to help young pilots to train before they transition to the more advanced F-35 stealth fighters. Portugal was the first Nation to step forward and purchase the A-29N.

I like it because it is a more angular F-22 look, AND it's Russian.

Development of Russia's LFI (logkiy frontovoi istrebitel) lightweight tactical fighter has been dramatically accelerated after the Russian Air Force decided its priorities for the next 10 years. Revealed here exclusively as the I-2000 (Istrebitel {fighter} 2000) project, the aircraft is due to become operational in 2005 as Russia's basic front-line fighter. It is also likely to become the leading export product of the Russian aircraft industry. Available information on the I-2000 indicates that it will be closely comparable to the US Joint Strike Fighter, operating in both the air-to-air and air-to-surface roles.

The ArrowHead is a sixth generation fighter jet that has just entered service in the military aviation of Plighia, which is the first country of the PSIC Coalition to equip itself with an aircraft of this type. The ArrowHead is a compact jet, slightly larger than an F-16, with advanced stealth technology, a particular aerodynamic profile, with raider and patrol capabilities. This jet is equipped with the latest technologies in the field of avionics, sensors and armaments. Two powerful jet engines that guarantee a cruising speed of Mach 2.7 and a range of 2300 km (which can be extended with the addition of external tanks). The ArrowHead has three internal weapons bays: a large main bay on the bottom of the fuselage, and two smaller bays on the sides of the fuselage, aft of the engine inlets; a small bay for countermeasures such as flares is located behind each side bay, with the capacity to accommodate a total of 6 to 8 missiles in different configurations; the jet is also equipped with two cannons mounted under the attachment of the wings. Furthermore, the wings of the jet are equipped with 2 hardpoints each, to be able to attach other armaments or external tanks. Finally, the NGF-1 features a spacious cockpit with all-digital flight instruments, afterburners that incorporate pitch-axis thrust vectoring nozzles.
2024 is finally over! It´s now time to take conclusions of the Year.
This year I completed the Yugoslav Experimental Plane Projects and the Dutch Air Force (1940) displays that I had started in 2023 and I started two new displays, the Swiss Experimental Plane projects and the Japan Maritime Self-defense Force (JMSDF).
This resulted on the “usual” collection of 40 LEGO models that I like to average each year:
19 Planes
10 warships
2 vehicles
9 others
My favorite Plane MOC was the Japanese Shin Meiwa US-1A flying boat and the Atago AEGIS destroyer was my favorite ship model.
I have huge plans for 2025 so don´t forget to subscribe my Instagram page and share!
Thank you for all your support once again!

Recently, a Japanese group on Facebook asked me to take a few more pictures of my Kawasaki P-1, so I made the iconic photo of two P-1s flying over Mount Fuji and a picture with the weapons that the Aircraft can carry.
The Kawasaki P-1 is a Maritime Patrol Aircraft, built in Japan for the Japanese Maritime Self-defense Force since 2007. In entered service in 2013 and so far around 60 airframes have been built.
This MOC was a challenge because the airframe is pretty much a civilian passenger plane adapted for Military use. But I didn´t give up and here it is.
The model has a series of features, namely movable flaps and elevators, internal bomb bay, retractable landing gear as well as the external hardpoints for missiles.

The decision to operate the Super Tucano depends as well on the capacity of the Aircraft to perform a large variety of roles.
It can be used to patrol the south shores of Portugal (and control illegal immigration and drug traffic) as well as help on the detection of wildfires on the Portuguese intense summer.
Also, it was widely reported that it can be used in Africa on peace keeping missions, an area that the Portuguese Air Force has intensive experience following the 13 year old Colonial Wars in Angola, Mozambique and Guiné.
However, it´s also important to say that following the new lessons learned on the Russian Invasion of Ukraine, small planes like this can be widely used to intercept drones or as drone carriers for example.

About the model:
I completed this LEGO model some weeks ago however, I didn´t have a solution for the five blade propeller. I considered many LEGO options but they were either too fragile or too bulky to be workable.
So instead I decided to use a completely new option, a paper (well cardboard) propeller! Although not the best option, it works and it´s functionable for now. I´m considering other options (maybe a 3D print but we shall see).
The model features a retractable landing gear, external supports for bombs and weapons as well as antennas and a detailed cockpit for the crew of two.
It´s important to say that this isn´t the definitive look of the Super Tucano (the first aircrafts arrived just three days at the time of the writing of this text) so I only added the bare minimum of details.
I might add some details later on (I hope they don´t make a completely different paint scheme that forces me to build a completely new plane!)
So, I hope you like it! Don´t forget to leave a like and subscribe my Instagram page:
