View up the Ganges to Laxmanjhula

Scanned from a print (mine)

Rishikesh, nestled along the sacred Ganges, exudes spiritual serenity. The chilled river, touching the plains from the Himalayas, flows gracefully, carrying the essence of ancient traditions. Photographed here is the iconic Laxman Jhula, a revered hanging bridge, connecting the riverbanks, inviting pilgrims and seekers to traverse its suspended path, harmonizing with the mystical aura of this Himalayan haven.

Shot in October, 2000 (in film), scanned and reproduced after basic processing.

Lakshman Jhula

With dubbel thread he was making a warm cap but

gloves or warm socks he knows knitting as well !

In the short time we were talking he sold a cap and a pair of gloves from his shop.

Lakshman Jhula

Can't help it, but on my daily walk, he always is there, I often buy some peanuts to give to white monkeys under the way.

His stall is quite basic but well located in a curve just before entering Lakshman Jhula.

His iris covered by cataract, he barely could see me, relying on his hearing to sell his peanuts. A close shot as people are more important then hiding them as a compositional object in an environment.

Lakshman Jhula

Cause India is more then a colored wall, it's life, 1 miljard ...

Children love to be taken on photo ... animate the statue, bring it alive, play along their creative imagination, make the world become small.

Enjoy

Place: across the Lakshman Jhula brige, passing the old to the new Siva Temple.

After a long walk into the mountains the whole day long, we returned exhausted and stopped at the Laksman Jhula bridge, looking for some refreshment and food, we crossed the bridge.

On the other side you see the 13-storey Swarg Niwas Temple and Shri Trayanbakshwar Temple. The bridge was build in 1939 over the Ganges and is only 3 Km away from the newer likewise build Ram Jhula bridge.

Seen at dusk from the German Bakery restaurant which has this fine view and good food :).

Taken out of hand, leaning on the table, waiting for our food.
