Another strip mall remains completely blown almost a year after the storm. This strip is located off of Rt. 10 between New Orleans, LS, and the Mississippi border.
Katrina moved my nephew's pumpkin seeds to the other end of the property, but they're flourishing.
Note high water marks on damaged fence, and dead grass.
Katrina was 365 days ago and things are looking up. The Coast is rebuilding as is New Orleans. It's good to see calm waters on open seas.

this was one block away from where i was living, in the marigny district of new orleans. my heart goes out to all who have been affected by it.

I caught this one and loved the dark contrast caught on Katrina's face and the light clouds and blue sky in the background.
I wish all my shots came out the way i wanted.
My wife has 8 weeks to go till the birth of our first child in this shot.
The temple was completely gutted by Katrina. Volunteers have restored it to a useable state and continue to improve it. The building was in the works for more than a decade and only dedicated two days before Katrina struck.
