THE #JJ FORUM - OPEN ROAD SPECIAL.

LOW ANGLE OR MOTION.

It's day one of our Open Road Challenge, sponsored by @FIATusa. You've probably heard, Kevin and I are visiting four cities over the next five days. First stop, we're here in Seattle.
.
I'm so excited to see everyone at tonight's photowalk and kick things off. Last fall's trip was a highlight of my year.
.
I can't tell you how grateful I am to once again have @FIATusa sponsoring this trip for us. We honestly could not do these trips without their help.
.
Since we're traveling in conjunction with FIAT's extreme sports tour this year, we'll be focusing on action sports related themes. Today's two themes are kind of for the skate boarders I guess. :-). We're doing Low Angle or Motion.
.
This shot was submitted by @travie_through_the_lens to the #fiatlowanglepromo tag and was featured by @jj_editor_benkatmatt.

Today please use either the tag #fiatlowanglepromo or #fiatmotionpromo. For the trip we're going to put the forum in turbo for a couple days. Two themes a day.

And yep, someone will be winning a FIAT again this year. Stop by the webpage linked at the top of my account for details.

This is important guys. YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE QUALIFIED TO WIN THE CAR TO PARTICIPATE IN THE FORUM OR GET FEATURED THIS WEEK. A couple important changes to be aware of from last year. FIAT is going to be giving away a car to a randomly chosen participant this year. Also to be eligible to win you need to make a new post. You don't have to shoot it today. It can be one you already have on your account. But to be eligible to win the car you need to post it during the event.

You can use shots you have already posted but we really love to see the theme inspire you to find new shots. The @jj_editors and I scour the tag and repost our favorite submissions through out the day. Over half a million people might see your pic! Pretty cool stuff.

We are ALL about keeping things simple, but in the spirit of our motto, "Create to connect", we ask that you follow our only "rule". We call it the 1-2-3 rule. For every 1 image you tag, comment on 2 in the tag and like 3 others.

#JJ_INSTATIP- Personally I feel like there is no shame in snapping people's pictures in public places. Depending on the culture however, it is often best to get permission if don't want to make people mad. . . unless you're sneaky. :-). Did you know that, on the iPhone, you can release the shutter in the camera app by pressing the volume up button on your headphones? Very 007 huh!? ;-).

#JJ_EXPLAINED- Are you new to the community? It's not as confusing as it seems at first. :-). Here's the deal. Sometimes it can be hard to get your pictures seen and find inspiring photographers to follow. That's why I created the forum 3 years ago. It's a place to come together for inspiration and encouragement.
Every morning, NYC time, we make a post announcing our new theme and tag. Your job is to tag images that fit the theme. You can use shots you have already posted but we really love to see the theme inspire you to find new shots. The @jj_editors, @kevinkuster and I scour the tag and repost our favorite submissions through out the day. Over half a million people might see your pic! Pretty cool stuff.
We are ALL about keeping things simple, but in the spirit of our motto, "Create to connect", we ask that you follow our only "rule". We call it the 1-2-3 rule. For every 1 image you tag, comment on 2 in the tag and like 3 others.
Glad you're here. Can't wait to see your shots. Speak up if you have questions or comments. We like to think this is the friendliest place on the internet. :-).

aerial69: Just a little Background on this Image. This is my Daughter who was home last year during our 4th of July Independence Celebration. At the time her Husband was deployed to Afghanistan. I had just had another son-in-law return from there just prior. My husband had Retired from the Fire Department after 32 years of Service. So this image for me Represents many different things! Maybe not the "Freedom" that you are referring to but in my mind this Image is indeed a "Symbol of Freedom". As Kevin said we are all entitled to our own opinions whether we agree or not. The point I was trying to make to @kevinkuster is that when two images of the flag appear on a "freedom" themed forum, the rest of the world might question the choice. As a matter of interest, do any other flags symbolise freedom for US citizens?
mister1tea: For Americans this flag is synonymous with freedom and when I was a kid it was the same here. We all wanted to be Americans...I just think that the world has started to look at America differently. I hope I didn't cause any offence @kevinkuster and @aerial69
