Yesterday's picture of the day: my new calendar by Jen Causey of Simply Breakfast. It would have been more fitting for the first day of January, but then I noticed this floating around Instagram. The assignment for day 2 is breakfast. I had tea for breakfast, but here's the first page of my calendar of breakfasts in the hazy winter sunlight.
Yesterday's prompt was "Favourite." I'm not sure if this picture best represents my favorite photo subject, food photography cliche or cookie. Possibly all of the above.
Carmen happened to get me a box of macarons from the new FiDi location of La Boulange on Friday, which made the perfect subject for Saturday's photo. From left to right: strawberry(?), lemon, coffee, pistachio, chocolate.
the one christmas decoration that's been up for two years now, although it doesn't switched on very often
#janphotoaday, morning
Yesterday's theme was Water, so I decided to go on a field trip to Crissy Field. (Pun not intended, but I'm totally keeping it now.) It was chilly out for SF at about 50 degrees, but with a hat on, it was a nice day for a walk down the beach.
For yesterday's picture on the theme of "Your Shoes," I literally just stepped outside our door. It was cold and rainy most of the day, so we didn't really go anywhere or do anything very exciting.
(Also, I am very white.)
I don't have many guilty pleasures at all but I guess the main one would be Kenner Blythe dolls. There are so many other things we really should spend our money on but Kenner's are my little indulgence, just for me. They make my heart sing...
all day yesterday i was so relieved i was done with my 365.
but by midnight i had the shakes.
i figured i could totally *just* do an instagram 365 + 1. (or maybe - 1 since i'm one day behind!)
i'm still calling this day 2.
2 January 2012
I like to watch The People Court because I get to watch a redhead latin woman judge, scream, nag, lecture and chastise other people, and it has NOTHING TO DO WITH ME.
Disclaimer: I am married to a redhead latin woman.
The theme for yesterday was Morning. Rather than take a picture of my usual morning tea, I decided to go for a walk down Valencia for a morning mocha. I went all the way to Four Barrel and found that it was unbelievably crowded, so I backtracked to The Summit. That was much more reasonable. Maybe most people have given up on them already, since they're closing up that location and moving by the end of the month. Anyway, I got one last mocha from The Summit, did some Instagramming, and felt highly caffeinated the rest of the day.
Friday's theme: Makes You Smile. I babysat Elsa yesterday afternoon while Carmen got a haircut, so Elsa was the logical choice for the picture of the day. It's always nice when the thing that makes you smile can smile back.
When I got her up from her nap, she was wearing one of the outfits we bought for her in Florence! We got a few cheerful pictures in before she spit up down the front...

#janphotoaday The three pairs of shoes I brought for eight months of living out of a suitcase. I've worn the Havaianas flip flops almost every day (except when I was in Michigan and Missouri). The Clarks MaryJanes a few times since we've been here, and the Earth Kalsø Sneakers have not been worn in Australia yet- but I'm saving them for the outback or other hiking adventures. While the colors may be boring, I kept it simple because I'm only traveling with a backpack and a carry-on with no room for extras. Also- comfort is king since I do a lot of walking here- and I'm surprised how well these flip flops hold their own! #yourshoes #photoaday #jan22
