So many people say "Oh look how beautiful the Jacaranda are" but I want to tell you how big a pain in the ass these trees are. The flowers fall all over the place. They stick to your car. The leaves fall with little twigs that have to be raked up. And they drop this black dust that makes a mess. But, they are beautiful, when they're blooming.

the last week we enjoy the purple show in Brisbane,
before the flowering season is over.
That afternoon, the light was very poor for photography, just before storm. But every year I come to that quite corner in Westlake to see these beautiful tree at bloom.
(I recovered the colour from the raw format, but not much clarity)

Jacaranda, as a matter of fact, UQ got much more beautiful than thoese there.
but anyway, enjoying the sun was great as well.

The Jacaranda in October,November in Australia is a most stiking tree in full bloom.It is a remarkably adaptable tree and can be found in most country towns around Australia as Jacarandas can tolerate quite dry conditions becoming deciduous before exploding into flower although it does not tolerate frost well.
Grafton has the title of the Jacaranda City though and it is true Jacarandas do love the river loam and the climate of this NSW inland north coast town.
Often seen flowering in early summer with Illawarra Flame Trees,Tabebuias,Cassias species,Silky Oaks,Tree Waratahs and Cape Chestnuts,Jacarandas are surely one of the worlds great flowering trees.
"White Christmas" is a white flowering grafted variety.I have photos of it in this set.
These images were shot on different days under different light conditions which accounts for the varied colour tones quite apart from the colour variation between trees.Grafted trees are now the preferred option due to better flowering and more intense blues/purples.

Created for the 2011 Create Your Style Australian Swarovski Competition (closes 30 Sept.) The base of the neckpiece is a Swarovski zipper embellished with 100's of Swarovski elements. I fell in love with Soutache earlier this year, so have been experimenting with this medium. The cascade of briolettes has a flash of purple hues as you move with the neckpiece.
