It's election time in these parts as a westbound CSX freight rolls along on the C&O Cincinnati Subdivision just west of Augusta, Kentucky behind a herd of GE motors.

The unprocessed T-bone steaks and leather jackets seem unimpressed.

It is evident that these two are both mad, but I love them despite this, or maybe because of this. That makes me as mad as them, so it must be love.

(They had no reason to go across the stepping stones - they were just there, so needed to be walked on.)

Lovin' this spring weather and all it's blossoms that mother nature has sent our way.

Brush Type 4 47 467 leaves the awesome Olive Mount Cutting on the outskirts of Liverpool city centre as it nears its destination with the 0951 (SuO) service from York to Lime Street. The date is June 15th 1986.

We got home from Oklahoma at midnight last night, and then today was a whirlwind. Tonight all I want is to sit at the kitchen table with a beer and look at the blossoms. Whew.

It was 106 on the Orange County soccer field today, and my son played his 3rd full game of the weekend. They fell to the eventual champs, but it was a great game.

This photo is an apt summary of a good chunk of my four days in the Afar region of Ethiopia. In one of the most inhospitable environments on Earth and the hottest inhabited place on the planet, even the Land Cruisers struggle. Apparently, the 4WD system on this cruiser wasn't working, and so it just wasn't up to handling the off-road driving and kept getting stuck in the sand.

When traveling in the Afar, it is compulsory to have both a local police officer (non-uniformed gun-toting man) and a soldier (uniformed gun-toting man) along as escorts. The bigger the convoy of vehicles, the greater the number of escorts.

Leer stehendes Quelle-Großlager in Leipzig.

Deserted depot of the mail-order company „Quelle“ in Leipzig, Germany.

Built in 1995, it was the largest center in Europe. 338 000 square metres of floor space, for the price of one Billion German Marks (500 Million Euros) . At this time, 900 people worked here. The company delivered 850 000 parcels from here to all over Germany, Austria an Switzerland.

In 2009 the Quelle-group became bankrupt, a few months later the last parcel was sent from here.

As soon as I saw this guy I knew I wanted to take his photograph and he was more than happy to let me. He moved around so much making him hard to photograph and as a result didn't quite my desired composition but I'm sure I'll see him again and grab another photograph.

today i did two important things: i test drove a couple cars and i got a bottle of "touchable" bubbles. the bubbles, like the cars, are not supposed to pop upon contact. the bubbles are kind of a bust for now (har har!), but i'm trying to get the hang of them.

also did a lot of running, jumping, climbing trees today, as well. but it didn't result in anything i wanted to use for a shot. at this point in the 365 game i'm finding it easier to bounce back and try a different idea right away if the first one doesn't work out. it's nice. and it keeps me testing my own limits.

in other news, i cleaned the apartment yesterday. and by "cleaned the apartment" i mean "baked raspberry scones". see how that works? i love logic.

if you hit L and whip your head back it looks like i'm falling for real. no, wait, if I whip MY head back i really do fall for real. sorry, my mistake!

UP 3063 is the mid train power on train 773 as it heads through the western parts of Edmonton. After being foiled by a stack train at the 149 street crossing we found a nice spot to shoot just as the train was coming into view. Interesting to see that this unit has been tagged by graffiti. You don't usually see tags on the power units.

June 2013

June 18-It's June, so how about something that starts with the letter J?

It is Tuesday, you all know what that means? It is Mexican food night. So what better than going down to my local bodega and picked up some fresh JALAPENO peppers, along with a couple of Habanero peppers and some sweet red and orange peppers. I will slice some for my chicken farritos (a cross of a burrito and Fajita), fry some for crunchy pleasures and use the blender to make some of my own pico de gallo with them and the other peppers. Then I have some of my favorite JELLY, pepper jelly. So yummy on crackers and tortillas. Bring on the TUMS later.

It’s Not Rocket Science faz parte da coleção Cosmix Collection da Orly, e resumindo é um verde com mega brilho. Agora pra detalhar a cor, haja paciência...

Pondicherry has this old jetty at the south end of Pondicherry beach alongside a platform made of boulders. Photographically this place is interesting. This jetty is kind of a border between clean and dirty Pondicherry. After this bridge there is a fishermen’s colony and a lighthouse with extremely dirty beach all around it.

After the sunrise shoot we were just wondering around the beach looking for good subjects when we noticed these fishermen coming back from sea. This is when the fishermen are preparing to carry away the boats after the morning catch.

I’ve posted both one more color and one BW version of this image. Let me know which one you like most.

It was a sunny afternoon , we invited the lovely Taiwanese girl蘇小安 to NTU campus to have a outdoor portrait activity , pretty 蘇小安 got beautiful long hair

And nice figure , under the bright winter sun back light , her hair all turn golden colorful , charming and gorgeous

I admire anyone who ever photographs one of these perched serenely in plain site without a single twig in the way.

I set a bucket down with some sunflower seeds in it for the chipmunks and a red squirrel took it over.

It's red versus green in this shot, as Class 387 no. 387 205, working the Gatwick Express 1230 London Victoria to Brighton, is about to overtake Southern Class 377 no. 377 458 at Three Bridges. The Southern unit is working the 1227 from London Bridge to Horsham.

It's not just a name. I really do heart stockings.

I'm not sure anyone has ever figured out the appeal of old-fashioned items, but I suspect some of the attraction is that such pieces recall our youth or that of our parents or grandparents. In some ways such acknowledgement marks our mortality, and perhaps then we want to touch the article or stare at it in the hope that we may hang on a bit longer to more of ourselves. I don't know. . .don't know if that is so or not.

I definitely believe our attraction to antiques is a response to the call of a simpler life; that long-gone day where there was less stress and less confusion, not only in our individual lives, but in the world as a whole.

Kelp salad with chilies, I'd never had it before.

I fell in love with him when he first gazed at me at the adoption site. That was five years ago, but I still adore it when we sit quietly and stare lovingly at each other! We just had our 3-mile walk in brisk 21-degree weather … the hat was just for his Xmas photo op! 🎄😀

It's a bit silly having a title that reads "another one of the groynes set from the other side" when the first one is below this one. Obviously the first one people will see will be this one, which is as it happens the the second one. The next one they see which is below this one will be the second one, but it's actually the first. This is a bit like cricket - when you're in you're actually out waiting to come in, unless you're an opener. An opener is one of the first two from the team that is in that the team that is out is actually also trying to get out so that they can come in and you can try and get them out.

A good day - C'mon England

I have a bad habit of buying old Rock Raiders sets. But now I have come to a real stumper.

Just got this unopened Granite Grinder in the mail and I can not decide if I want to open it or not, well, I mean, I want to. But SHOULD I?

WHO EVEN KNOWS?

(I also have a second GG which is why there's one sitting there.)

Too many parties to attend, too many holidays to go, too many houses around the world, honestly it’s SO hard!

I did this for the It Gets Better Project Group. Please take a look!

And please press "L" =]

I had fun doing my makeup =] I had a mash up of ideas running through my head this morning and I LOVE the outcome!! I wanted to do something with the sugar skulls makeup and the outfit im wearing minus the fact you can't see the skirt...oops. My dad and brother were shocked when I came out of my room.

OMG its so hot out!! I can't believe my face didn't melt off! Hope everyone has a good weekend!

This is one from my archives. It is way too hot to wander around the neighbourhood. We are supposed to be getting 39C, but not as hot as some of our neighbourings states - in the mid 40s.

Today's reedit is a bit more subtle in areas than some of the others but I think it is a positive change. Here is the original www.flickr.com/photos/thetimethespace/5246645528/in/photo...
