Just moments after emerging - it's hard to comprehend how something so perfectly formed, with such perfect color, could slip out from being so tightly wrapped in that pupa, now looking whitish. Oh, and it's a BOY - harder to tell by the underside of the wing, but I marked it - appears as a small smudge. On the topside, the boys have a spot on each of the rear wings that the females don't have.

I would note that this was actually around 3 hours' elapsed time from the transparent pupa I posted yesterday, shown in the first comment below.

Lunch!!! American Robin successfully finding an earthworm in our front yard around the noon hour. Always amazed how the worm can hold on to the ground. Got a photo of one several years ago with a worm just like this in almost the exact location. Very backlit so not ideal lighting.

I used to call this tree the Eagle Tree. Now that it no longer bears an eagle's nest, I am not sure what to call it and it looks a bit lonely without it,

I still love the tree though, It's like an Arthur Rackham illustration with its stark and jagged lines.

I put off uploading this shot for a long time because I never felt satisfied with it. My friend Mark and Taka said it looked alright so I guess that was good enough.

It was refreshing to see competent and lethal Stormtroopers in a Star Wars movie, wasn't it? A lot of people uploaded their version of FN-2199 whipping out his electified tonfa to the internet because it was such a cool moment. In my opinion, however, what was more badass than just spinning a baton around was when he abandoned his shield and perfectly functional gun, throwing them to either side. A normal Stormtrooper doesn't just choose to make a killing personal by electing hand-to-hand combat. I haven't seen anyone make this moment before so I was hoping to be the first.

It was a fun day I will admit. They are asking if they can do it again. We will see.

Happy Teddy Bear Tuesday

I'm back, I've had a lovely time el7imdellah :)

InshAllah i'll be uploading photos everyday :D

Happy weeked ..

It's a weed, but a pretty one, so I allow it to stay. It's actually wild Morning Glory.

It was on a beautiful spring day in April when I encountered it, the royal bird of the forests in Switzerland. It had always fascinated me, the beautiful bird with the blue feathers, but photographing him is a completely different matter because he is clever, very clever. Every time the jay came near me, he immediately recognized when I wanted to photograph him and flew away. I only had seconds to focus on the bird, and then he was gone again. To my happiness and great astonishment, I suddenly saw the jay in front of me in a wooded area where he was flying around. After a while, the beautiful bird perched on a branch where he remained for some time. I finally had the opportunity to photograph the busy bird well, without any rush. I soon realized that they were a pair searching for each other. In this sense, I was able to enjoy these two, who were more concerned with themselves than with someone like me, who had been trying for so many years to somehow photograph this clever bird. Patience sometimes pays off, even if it requires special circumstances. Being in the right place at the right time is the order of the day...

Nature's greatest gift is that there is joy in looking around and trying to make sense of what we see.

Like this song but it makes me so sad that we can not live in peace with each other. It brings tears to my eyes. Yuval Raphal has such a beautiful voice. THIS WAS IN REFERENCE TO THE OCTOBER 7TH MASSACRE AS SHE SAID AT THE END OF THE SONG!! THE MUSIC VIDEO MAKES REFERENCE TO THAT!! SHE SURVIVED AND PUT OUT AN AMAZING SONG!

THIS IS TRULY POWERFUL!!

A chilly start to the year in Northwest England

It's been a long time since I posted a fence shot.

Happy Fence Friday everyone and a good weekend too!

It's been awhile and I've been missing you all.

Here's one I captured off of my car window one morning. I hated to scrape it off!

It is more suitable for Friday's tunnel, better late than never:-) Wish you a good weekend!

It could be shearing time soon looking at this lot.

It stayed around long enough to get a shot or two!

Some interesting facts about probably the cutest world's rodents (Sciurus vulgaris):

- They do not hibernate;

- They hide nuts and seeds in the ground, which contributes to the growth of the tree population;

- Front teeth grow throughout life;

- They have a multifunctional tail - it helps to keep balance, brake, and even serves as an umbrella;

- If they look anxious, nervously jumping on the branches making high-pitched whistles (and there is no particular threat), it means that in 6-10 hours it will probably rain;

- If they hide in a hollow and their activity decreases, it means that a storm is coming.

Kilka interesujących faktów o tych jakże pociesznych gryzoniach (Sciurus vulgaris):

- Nie zapadają w sen zimowy;

- Ukrywają w ziemi orzechy i nasiona, co przyczynia się do wzrostu populacji drzew;

- Przednie zęby rosną przez całe życie;

- Mają wielofunkcyjny ogon - pomaga utrzymać równowagę, hamować, a nawet bywa parasolem;

- Jeśli wyglądają na zaniepokojone, nerwowo skaczą po gałęziach wydając wysokie gwizdy (a nie widać szczególnego zagrożenia), to znaczy, że prawdopodobnie za 6-10 godzin wystąpią opady;

- Jeśli chowają się w dziupli, a ich aktywność się obniża, to znaczy, że nadejdzie burza.

I saw this in a branch of a fig tree in my back yard, because of the confinement and at first I Thought the it was a mosquito but then wen I saw the photo I can appreciate that the abdomen and the chest are the same that the dragonfly but the head is different and it has one pair of wings instead two like the dragonfly.

Some one can tell what it is

Sunset shot from under the San Clemente Pier in California.

I had some fun with this one.

As it is now.

Tremendous Thursday to you.

How wonderfully civil; melt in the mouth butter shortbreads waiting to be eaten 'neath the Christmas tree, accompanied by a nice cup of tea.

I make butter shortbreads each year for family and friends for Christmas as a gift. What started as a small offering has now become almost too much for me as word spread, and requests came in. Since I started working part-time, it makes it a little easier. I have to set aside a whole weekend at least which I devote just to the baking of Christmas fare in my little kitchen. So as my oven temperature increases, so does the volume on my stereo as I play a selection of my Christmas albums whilst I bake.

This year I made twenty trays of shortbread biscuits (a record for me), so around three hundred and fifty shortbread biscuits, made with a recipe almost one hundred years old, each injected with just a bit of love to the recipients.

Merry Christmas and bon appétit!

It ain't always going to be one like this! 😜

I would do anything to be able to see another, what a day that was.

Hello to all my Flickr friends. It has been a difficult few weeks since my last upload. This was sadly due to losing my brother at the end of November after a long battle with cancer, so please forgive me for not being on Flickr.

I hope that you all had a great Christmas, and i would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for the wonderful comments and support over the last 12 mouths.

Best wishes to you all for 2025.

Regards, Ray.
