Soldiers assigned to every command on Fort Bragg capped off their first official event with a first place finish at the Defender’s Cup
tournament held over the Labor Day weekend at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland in San Antonio.
The 22 players who represented Fort Bragg were selected from 86 candidates who showed up for the open tryouts held at Towle
stadium from May 31 through June 2. The players endured three months of demanding physical training and practice sessions in addition
to their regular unit PT sessions. The team left for the 22-hour drive from Fort Bragg to San Antonio on Aug. 31 and arrived back
home on Wednesday. Look for additional coverage on the team in next week’s issue of the Paraglide.
Sgt. 1st Class Christopher Petty, a transportation specialist with Headquarters and Headquarters Company, Group Support Battalion, 3rd Special Forces Group, performs his comedy routine Oct. 20, at Sports USA, Fort Bragg. Petty has been performing comedy at multiple locations in the local area for nearly a year, using laughter as a means to boost morale for troops and the community.

The community enjoyed international food, dance and music during the 38th annual International Folk Festival at Festival Park in downtown Fayetteville, Sunday. The two-day event included a parade of nations on Saturday and performances from international musicians throughout both days. The 82nd Airborne Division Band entertained the crowd with two different performances - rock and fusion music on Saturday and jazz music on Sunday. Crowds enjoyed food from over 30 countries prepared by local residents from around the world.
