The streets of Fort Bragg were jam packed with runners lined up on Reilly Road for the first ever Neon 5K Night run. Participants ran with glow stick items they recieved from MWR staff. Runners were treated to several vendors displaying their services or porducts under tents set up across from Hedricks Stadium. Kids had the opportunity to take photos with their favorite superhero or disney princess as Batman, Wolverine, Captain America, Queen Elsa and Snow White all showed up for the festivities before the run.

Community 5K Run/Walk at Hedrick Stadium, Saturday. More than

800 members of the Fort Bragg community took part in the event

that promotes the Army Performance Triad which focuses on the key

actions — activity, nutrition and sleep.

Fort Bragg youth participate in Vacation Bible School, June 22 to 26, at Irwin Intermediate School. This year’s theme was Jungle Safari: Where kids explore the nature of God.

National Museum of the Marine Corps

 

Quantico, Virginia’s Iron Mike is officially titled "Crusading for Right". It depicts a World War I Marine holding a 1903 Springfield rifle, wearing a pack with a bayonet.

 

At the end of the war, US Army General John J. Pershing commissioned the French sculptor Charles Raphaël Peyre (sometimes Raphael Charles, 1872—1949) to commemorate the service of the US Army’s "doughboys". The sculptor, unaware of the differences between the branches of service, used a Marine private as a model and included the Eagle, Globe and Anchor insignia on the helmet.

 

Today, the original statue stands at the Marine Corps Base Quantico in front of Butler Hall, home of the Marine Corps Training and Education Command. A reproduction with the name "Iron Mike" on its pedestal stands in front of the National Museum of the Marine Corps in Triangle, Virginia.

3rd Aerial Port Squadron defeats 382nd Air Support Operations Squadron 23-13 at Hercules Fitness Center softball field Monday. The game was close in the first two innings. By the third inning, 3rd APS started taking control of the game outscoring 682nd ASOS by three runs in the third and fourth innings. Due to time, the game ended in the fifth inning as 3rd APS held their opponent scoreless in the final inning for the victory.

Paratroopers assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division load a CH-47 Chinook assigned to the 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade during airborne operations, Fort Bragg, N.C. Jan. 6. In two days, over 1,500 paratroopers are expected to exit the Chinook.

The Fight Lab 44 MMA match at Sports USA on 7 Feb 15 drew a large audience to watch 10 bouts. A mixture of weight classes were represented in the fights and the night ended with three pro fights.

The Horatio Gates Medal is awarded for distinguished achievements and service of individuals of the Adjutant General’s Corps, Adjutant General’s Corps Regimental Association, or human resources professionals. The Horatio Gates Bronze Medal is the second highest award authorized by the Adjutant General’s Corps Regimental Association. According to the vice president of AG Awards branch, this is first Horatio Gates award handed out within the 16th Military Police Brigade.
