American Dream U business entrepreneurs experienced a Fort Bragg Soldier’s life April 14, by staying overnight in the XVIII Airborne Corps Noncommissioned Officers Academy barracks. The visiting entrepreneurs participated in a physical training session conducted by instructors from the XVIII Abn. Corps NCO Academy, followed by breakfast at the 82nd Sustainment Brigade dining facility. After breakfast, the group was given a command brief which included a question and answer session with Maj. Gen. Jefforey A. Smith, XVIII Abn. Corps deputy commanding general about Soldier quality of life issues, career progression and the future of the force. The rest of the day’s activities comprised of an opportunity to jump from the 34 foot tower at the Advanced Airborne School (where each group member was presented with an honorary paratrooper certificate), lunch at the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 18th Fires Brigade dining facility and hands-on experience at the Virtual Training Facility and Flight Simulator. The visit provided the American Dream U business Entrepreneurs with information about the capabilities, responsiveness and readiness of Fort Bragg to send forces anywhere in the world.

First baby of the year is Rileigh Dunlap. Rileigh Dunlap, who weighed 8 pounds and 11 ounces, and 21 inches was surrounded by her father's family as the group celebrated the new baby girl. She was born at 4:03 a.m. Her big sister, Lexy, picked out her name.

Dr. Emily Marsh, Talks about the naming of Fort Braggs newest school, The Mildred B. Poole Elementary School. Mildred Poole will be the first Civilian to have a Fort Bragg school named for her. She integrated the Fort Bragg Schools in 1951, well ahead of the Public schools.

Fort Bragg and Fayetteville Families enjoy the unlimited carnival rides and live entertainment at the Fort Bragg Fair on May 2.

The fair is an annual event that takes place every spring at the Fort Bragg Fairgrounds located on Bragg Boulevard. Gates open at 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and at 1 p.m. on Saturday & Sunday.

The Fort Bragg Fair ends Sunday with a Mother’s Day appreciation day. Mothers are admitted for free when accompanied by a paying child 36 inches or taller to age 17.
