Lt. Gen. Stephen J. Townsend, XVIII Airborne Corps and Fort Bragg commanding general, administers the inspector general oath of office to recently assigned Inspectors general on Feb. 11. To the right of Lt. Gen. Townsend are Maj. Brian Kline, Sgt. 1st Class Kereen Bennett, and Sgt. 1st Class Marc Dibernardo. Inspectors general serve as an extension of the commander’s eyes, ears, voice and conscience. They are confidential advisors and fact-finders to the commander. They assess the state of the command’s discipline, efficiency, economy, morale, training and readiness as directed by the commander. Every command within the Army commanded by a general officer is authorized an inspector general. Girls in grades 3 to 8 participate in a track program meeting, Sept. 10, at Fort Bragg. The girls are part of either the Girls on the Run or Girls on Track running programs, offered at Fort Bragg through the YMCA of the Sandhills to encourage a positive self-image and to promote a healthy lifestyle.

Capt.
