While you wait for the water to boil... to form little bubbles that will float and escape in the air...

Pour the water and allow yourself to notice the scent... the aroma that slowly fills the air...

Breathe... enjoy the process...

Breathe and enjoy the moment... It's a little part of your journey... try to always find something new, something to learn... make the best of it.

HMM!

Some studies have found that hibiscus tea may lower systolic and diastolic blood pressure. However, to prevent an interaction, it should not be taken in combination with blood pressure medications.

Animal studies have found that hibiscus extract has antioxidant properties. Additional studies are needed to determine how this may translate to humans.

Some studies have shown that hibiscus tea may reduce blood cholesterol and triglyceride levels in those with diabetes and metabolic syndrome. However, other studies have produced conflicting results. More research is needed in the general population

Macro Monday: #Brew

Diameter of the Yin & Yang: 4,5 cm / 1,7 inches

Old idea revisited (I had made a Yin & Yang for "Seeds" with black and white sesame seeds way back in April 2017). Actually I wanted to do a Mandala sort of thing, but didn't have the time to make even a simple one, and I'm not sure if it would have worked at all with tea and ground coffee. Here, obviously, the coffee beans represent the "Yang", containing caffeine, a beverage we usually drink first thing in the morning to wake us up, or after lunch / dinner (food coma!), or, more generally, for that extra "kick" of energy. And, opposed to that, or also complementing it, the "Yin" of herbal tea / infusion (the green is Tulsi, the orange is Rooibos with some other herbs), with a soothing, relaxing, warming, cosy and comforting effect. Not the traditional concept of Yin and Yang, because both "opposing" parts here are Yin, and the coffee Yang is the element that sort of stirs up that harmony, but then this is what coffee does, doesn't it? My first idea was to make a funny face with a slice of lemon, mint leaves and fresh ginger, because that is my "brew" of choice all day long, but wasn't sure if fresh ingredients are allowed. So here you go, not the most original thing for "Brew", but I think it turned out nice enough.

I used an eggcup to shape the tea circle. Put the camera on the tripod "head first" . So no cardboard box stacking this time, but in-camera focus stacking :-) Quickly processed in Luminar 3: foliage filter for the Tulsi-Yin, increased saturation of the orange tones for the Rooibos-Yin, all over detail enhancement (small) and microstructure, and structure enhancement on the coffee-bean-Yang. Back to PS, copied the layer, then back to Luminar, where I applied the Luminar look "Color Intensify Bold", back to PS, where I blended that layer with the first Luminar layer with "soft light" and 50 percent opacity. Merged the layers, and applied two strokes as a layer style to make an image border, added a new layer, selected the inside area of the border, and filled the stroke (2 px), added my signature. Done with the Strange Brew :-)

Please press "Z". A Happy Macro Monday, Everyone!

Towards the end of summer and as the weather turns colder and most flowers are fading you then find Michaelmas Daisies growing in the wild, it is quite amazing that the colour range is from white, pink, blue and lavender. The plant itself was introduced to Britain from North America in the early 1700’s and although they are not native to the country they survive very well. They can be used in herbal teas, fresh in salads and used to garnish food, they also have several health benefits and have traditionally been used in the treatment of skin problems, pain, fevers and diarrhoea, although I don’t think I would try any of these treatments myself.

A great variety of tea in the market which is close to my heart. A little bit of India in Vienna!

HAPPY 😊 Macro Mondays!

Having herbal tea with wild rose buds is always an experience. Tea is always a delicacy in my choice list, anytime a day. Few days before I made this special tea at home.

Using natural rose ingredients in tea is a traditional practice in China.

Rose buds are almost caffeine free. The aroma and taste of rose is gentle, smooth and sweet. One can blend it to a healthy drink as an added charm, especially in green or black tea. Chinese people believe in its traditional medical value.

I liked this blending, especially with wild rose buds.

Matcha powdered tea, and cardamom: brewing together gives a nice and healthy herbal tea.

I used less than one teaspoonful of Matcha - maybe 2cm diameter of powder, and small cardamom - about 2 cm -

It is the time you have wasted for your rose that makes your rose so important. Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, The Little Prince.

Rosa damascena, more commonly known as the Damask rose, or sometimes as the Rose of Castile, is a rose hybrid, derived from Rosa gallica and Rosa moschata. Further DNA analysis has shown that a third species, Rosa fedtschenkoana, is associated with the Damask rose.

The flowers are renowned for their fine fragrance, and are commercially harvested for rose oil (either "rose otto" or "rose absolute") used in perfumery and to make rose water and "rose concrete". The flower petals are also edible. They may be used to flavor food, as a garnish, as an herbal tea, and preserved in sugar as gulkand. Source Wikipedia.

Antoine Marie Jean-Baptiste Roger, comte de Saint-Exupéry(29 June 1900 – 31 July 1944) was a French writer, poet, aristocrat, journalist, and pioneering aviator. He became a laureate of several of France's highest literary awards and also won the U.S. National Book Award. He is best remembered for his novella The Little Prince (Le Petit Prince) and for his lyrical aviation writings, including Wind, Sand and Stars and Night Flight.

Saint-Exupéry was a successful commercial pilot before World War II, working airmail routes in Europe, Africa and South America. At the outbreak of war, he joined the French Air Force (Armée de l'Air), flying reconnaissance missions until France's armistice with Germany in 1940. After being demobilised from the French Air Force, he travelled to the United States to persuade its government to enter the war against Nazi Germany. Following a 27-month hiatus in North America, during which he wrote three of his most important works, he joined the Free French Air Force in North Africa, although he was far past the maximum age for such pilots and in declining health. He disappeared over the Mediterranean on a reconnaissance mission in July 1944, and is believed to have died at that time.

Prior to the war, Saint-Exupéry had achieved fame in France as an aviator. His literary works – among them The Little Prince, translated into 300 languages and dialects – posthumously boosted his stature to national hero status in France. He earned further widespread recognition with international translations of his other works. His 1939 philosophical memoir Terre des hommes—Man and His World became the name of an international humanitarian group, and was also used to create the central theme of the most successful world's fair of the 20th century, Expo 67 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. I've discovered another great winter tea at Gong Fu Tea in Des Moines. This herbal, full-bodied South African red tea has rooibos, honeybush with a hint of raspberry. Glad I bought 4 ounces. Delicious.
