On the motionless branches of some trees, autumn berries hung like clusters of coral beads, as in those fabled orchards where the fruits were jewels . . . ~ Charles Dickens
An opening in the clouds that lasted for about five minutes gave me this view of Mount Shasta. This is just North of Weed California. I hadn't anticipated a photo-op of the mountain because of all the cloud coverage. Sometimes ya just get lucky... if you're paying attention.

There was a lovely sunset going on to the left but the clouds provided far more attraction on this occasion. One of the newly constructed Groynes down at the Marina at Clifton Springs, Bellarine Peninsula, Victoria, Australia. ND 1000 Filter used.
Milky Way rises in the night during this springtime capture. Applied some light painting into the scene from the far left.
When we had that great sunset the other day, I was able to catch this great shot just before the color disappeared completely.
This is the bell tower at First Baptist Church in Huntsville.
Beautiful beams from the midnightsun reflecting in a lake somewhere up in the mountains of Western Lofoten Islands
From last year when we went to see Courtney Pine at the open-air stage in the grounds of Hever Castle in Kent. Got treated to a spectacular sunset too.
Digan lo que digan esta localización es fotogénica a rabiar. Vale que esta muy visto el rincón, que no es original venirse hasta aquí, pero es que hace mucho tiempo que no tiro una foto en la costa, y hoy, me valía todo!
If we could view the world through a magnified lens, we'd most likely take a walk through a garden and never leave. While in Hawaii, I found myself entranced by the center of a hibiscus flower. It was so glorious that I almost forgot to look up and around at the rest of the world.
This dramatic sky was caught at Newquay on the coast of Cornwall, taken in the evening and it was mostly luck to be there at the right time, but we all need luck at some stage! and just waited for the light to hit the building took several of these! posted something similar to this a while back and this original version!
Beautiful pastels, warm pinks and sherbet colors grace the layered cliffs of Cedar Breaks National Monument in Utah. Such warm colors and tranquil shadows, stretching long in the last of the evening sunlight.

Contemplating the thoughts of great master photographers like Ansel Adams, Galen Rowell, etc. I started to think about what they said about growing in skill and soul. It is very true: the camera does not make the photographer, the photograph makes the photographer.
I look back at my early photos. Even with such great equipment as my Canon EOS, I can tell the quality of the compositions have improved, mostly by gaining inspiration from other great photographers like you on Flickr. What an awesome journey! :)
"You don’t take a photograph, you make it." - Ansel Adams
"A lot of people think that when you have grand scenery, such as you have in Yosemite, that photography must be easy." - Galen Rowell
"There are no rules for good photographs, there are only good photographs." - Ansel Adams
"Beauty can be seen in all things, seeing and composing the beauty is what separates the snapshot from the photograph." - Matt Hardy
"It is my intention to present - through the medium of photography - intuitive observations of the natural world which may have meaning to the spectators." - Ansel Adams
Here's a shot from better times last summer, Shot high above the Devon Countryside at Sunset as we spent a blissful week staying on a farm there.
“Where there is perhaps a province in which the photograph can tell us nothing more than what we see with our own eyes, there is another in which it proves to us how little our eyes permit us to see.” -
Dorthea Lange
One of the best photographic experiences I have had...
"Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that."
-Martin Luther King, Jr.
The skies were blue. White clouds obscured the sun at brief intervals. What a perfect day to visit one of my favorite gardens in Portland.
The Elk Rock at Bishop's Close has an interesting history, involving John Olmsted of the Olmsted Brothers landscape architects. He sited the house to provide a view of Mount Hood. Then the owner worked for 60 years developing the gardens. No wonder I love this town!
