Sold in Japan as the Toyota Vitz. Not sold in the US. Funny enough, one of the times I visited Japan was when this model launched, and I attended some sort of promotional event for it that I happened upon while on a walk.

The Austin name was unceremoniously dropped by the management in 1985 and replaced with a Metro badge looking like the Rover longship but was never referred to as one until 1990 when the Rover 100 replaced the old shape.

The old rotten foam can be scraped off with a plastic spatula. It all needs to be cleaned from the fiberboard headliner shell so the new fabric can be securely glued. Removal and replacement of a headliner in a Saab 900 Turbo Hatchback
