Well why not? I take shots like this of insects. Besides, it gives an oddly interesting perspective.
Happy Beautiful Horse Butt Thursday!
Great Western Railway's Intercity Blue/Grey liveried 253001/W43002 'Sir Kenneth Grange' stands at the head of 1V72, 17:28 WEYMOUTH - 20:09 BRISTOL TEMPLE MEADS, 'The Weymouth Wizard' after just arriving in with the ECS on Saturday 10/09/2016. This was the last 'Weymouth Wizard' of the year and possibly the last one ever so what a way to finish.
Annoyingly, the beetles were staying out of the sun and in the shade, so I only got this flash of colour as the light caught the beetle.

GWR Class 150 No. 150130 + Class 153 No. 153380 is seen departing Dawlish Warren while working the 2T22 15:53 Exmouth to Paignton.
It is always good to see a preserved bus restored to PSV status, and this Albion Valkyrie of South Yorkshire Motors joined Greg Lawson's Yesteryear Coaches fleet in 2009 after undergoing a thorough overhaul in his ownership. It was about to embark on the final long climb up to Kirkby Stephen station.
Magor Marsh pond.
Image taken with Tony Dandridge's big lens, which is vastly superior to mine, but he kindly let me have a go. Thanks Tony,
This baffled me. I didn't know what the heck it was and it quickly dropped off the wall so I only had this quick snapshot of it. First groundhopper I have seen in ages.
First for me anyway. A very brief excursion to Rogiet Poor Land nature reserve netted me four new plant species for my 2016 list.
A big blotch mine and emergence hole on some ivy growing on a wall at Magor Marsh. I'd really like to know what made this, as I haven't seen mines on ivy before.

Larinioides cornutus, I think. Possily a male from the bold markings. I would have captured it for a better look but it was over water and just out of reach.
Embarassingly, I pushed through the rails of a fence to try and reach it, and when I still failed I found that my belly was now caught on the rails and I was stuck and unable to get back! There was a moment of panic, and then I wriggled back. I really need to lose some weight!
Sadly deceased, and a bit dusty.
I help out at a young person's wildlife group for my local Wildlife Trust, and last night one of the children brought in a bat that had been killed by her cat. I took possession of it, and today tried for some pictures of it, of which I think this is the best.
Sad to see a dead one, but an opportunity for photographs like this is too good to miss.
I had to look this up, and then realised that it was absolutely everywhere in Henllys fen, between the grass tussocks, although it seemed to flower best in the shadier spots. Lovely little flower.
Like everything else at Magor Marsh the wood pigeons seem comfortable around peeople. This one knew i was leaning out of my car window a few feet away but seemed unbothered.

Loads of these in flower. If the weather hadn't been so bad they would have been covered in insects.
