Titles, titles, titles.......had to have something different for sunset.

The gloaming is that time of day where the soft glow of dusk envelopes your soul. Where the nocturnal gatekeepers take control and anything seems possible. My favorite time of day.

Your comments, faves and suggestions are always appreciated.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Home to the Ottawa Redblacks (Canadian Football League) and the Ottawa Fury (North American Soccer League).

Always good to have the trusty iPhone with me.

I could have photographed this field of pink and purple phlox for hours, but Mom was waiting patiently in the car for me so I had to make do with just an hour. She's a gem ;-)

Happy fence Friday, friends. Have a wonderful weekend!

" In The Gloaming "

You draw me in

You pull me down

A rose behind all those many thorns

Tears of a silent rain falling

Leading me back to you

Through the dusk, into the dark night

You draw me in

You pull me down

A rose behind all those many thorns

In the gloaming

All the shadows they fall

In the moonlight

All the stars are aligned

For you

For me

For us to see

You draw me in

You pull me down

A rose behind all those many thorns

In the gloaming

In the twilight

Will I find a way?

You draw me in

You pull me down

A rose behind all those many thorns

Just outside Cunningham Falls State Park, in Frederick County, Maryland, I found this old hay barn and pickup alongside the road. The field was neatly manicured and perfectly fenced, the barn and hay sheds were rotting and the truck had not been run in years...but the scene, under thick clouds and a beautiful sun, captured my eye.

Castle Stalker, Argyllshire.

The midges were like Spitfires .. and the dog was off killing something with feathers (which were all over his muzzle when he returned) .. so it's a wonder I managed to get a shot at all!

I was bewitched when I first went to Scotland. There is no other word for it. The sheer beauty of the landscape completely took me by surprise.

I'd travelled up overnight from London on the train, and as dawn was breaking, the spell started being cast over me. As the train rattled between Glasgow and Fort William, mist was rising over the water of a loch and it was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen. I think I'd been woken up by all the oohs and aahs and scuffling of feet around me. Everyone in the carriage apart from me had their faces pressed against the windows and I wondered what they were looking at and what the big deal was.... I soon saw. My sleepy eyes soon sprung awake for the rest of that journey. They don't call it one of the greatest train journeys in the world lightly... (I had no idea - there was no internet for research back then).

That evening, I was rowing across Loch Eil. As dusk was setting over this beautiful part of the world, the faint sound of bagpipes could just about be heard drifting over the loch. I have no idea where they came from, and the only other sound was the gentle slap of oars on water. It was then I was truly snared.

This shot reminds me of that moment and I have edited it accordingly. I hear the phantom bagpipes when I look at it!

"This grand show is eternal. It is always sunrise somewhere; the dew is never all dried at once; a shower is forever falling; vapor is ever rising. Eternal sunrise, eternal sunset, eternal dawn and gloaming, on sea and continents and islands, each in its turn, as the round earth rolls."

A horse strolling through the dust at dusk. The sunset light was perfect when I saw these horses roaming around a Hidden Valley ranch.
