The marble statue of "Eve" (1873-80) by Scipione Tadolini (1822-92) is a copy of a plaster model in the Pal. Braschi in Rome. It was gifted to Glasgow Art Galleries & Museums in 1936.

Tadolini came from a family of Roman artists and was a major figure in Italian marble sculpture. He studied under his father in the studio of Antonio Canova.
