Some monoprints I made with the Gelli Plate this past weekend. Most will be used as backgrounds for my art journal.
Gelli monoprint/monotype on paper (I believe the ones made with stencils are monoprints, since I can use the stencil to pull multiples, while the ones where I painted directly on the plate are monotypes because there is only one full print, and maybe a ghost print.)
The abstract pieces are part of my Sun Dances series derived from plant shadows; they were made by arranging paper 'left over' after cutting out plant shapes (eg the shapes of the holes in the leaves)
5 X 7 inches (printed area)
A Gelli plate is a commerically made gelatin-type plate for monoprint/monotyping that makes it very very easy to pull prints without a press. I got one in January of last year and had loads of fun playing with different techniques. Playing with my new Gelli printing plate. These art tags were created using re-purposed file folders, acrylic paint and various stencils applied to Gelli Arts Gel Printing Plate. Smaller "Destiny" tag was created the same way. Embellished with coordinating fibers.
Stamp credit: "Destiny" by Invoke Arts.
Tags measure approx. 2.75 x 5.5

The variations on the dancers and dogs were made with shapes cut specifically for the purpose... and some of the 'leftovers' from those cut-outs.
The botanicals are made by rolling ink/paint on the plate, pressing the botanical item onto the plate, and then lifting, then putting paper on the plate and pressing to transfer.

Gelli botanic monotypes. I love that they approach the look and feeling of old daguerrotypes - but in color.
These were made by ink the plate, pressing the botanical onto the plate and then either lifting the botanical - or not - before printing. The "composites" are two separate prints (foreground/background of same botanical in same position) that were combined digitally.
5 X 7 inches (printed area)
