Description: "The first female international mountain guide from Nepal, Dawa Yangzom Sherpa, hung these first Biodegradable prayer flags upon the summit of Yalung ri ( Mt. Gaurishankar) in November 2021 to raise awareness, highlight the neglected ecological concerns of problematic synthetic ritual objects in mountain communities and remind the true ethics of mountaineering by preserving and managing the integrity of the mountain environment. This picture has influenced and inspired other mountaineers that have disproportionate influence in the Himalayas. Biodegradable Prayer Flags initiative is started by women users from mountain to revive our cultural values of an ancestral faith system to offer a material solution to the increasing environmental crisis and encourage simplicity in our consumption with limited resources and to play an active role to insure that we respect our natural ecosystem to bring spiritual values that aligns with rituals we cherish."

Gorgeous Himalayan views on the flight from Delhi to Paro (Bhutan).By a strange quirk of fate, my original flight from Calcutta (Kolkata) to Paro was canceled and the airline re-routed me from Delhi. And thanks to this valuable tip from another traveler, I insisted on a window seat not above the wing, on my inward flight into Paro for the best views. And was amply rewarded, as you can see here! I am not flying on Bhutan's national carrier DrukAir, but on a private airline in Bhutan, Bhutan Airways, known previously as Tashi Air.
