Managed to get lined up and sorted for landing quickly enough to feel slightly more confident in this approach but still roaring in pretty hot and steep. Bit of a crosswind blowing me rightwards too

Managed to reverse thrust no problem and come to a stop before the runway dipped into the creek

Turning around on the still-frozen creek

Eeeehhh, don't wanna park here where the tug is showing me a spot exists

Putting up my track vector onto the map display so I can make sure I'm not drifting back towards the weather as I continue to fly via heading

One of the arrivals comes in for landing as I approach the end of the runway

City of Minuf with the Nile itself running above the aircraft

Only 1,157nm this trip so no need to go crazy with the fuel management on a full tank of gas

Powering down the full length of the runway before rotating

Good initial departure from Chagual - now the climb out will be a bit more challenging if I want to head on course ASAP

Managed to not overheat my engine at all so far but it's a rough climb - aiming for a notch in the ridge

Just clearing the first ridge

I looked outside for just a few seconds!!!

Looking back over the ridges towards the valley that holds Chagual

Still climbing hard for just FL235 so I can get a good look at the rivers and rain forests below. Clouds fill the horizon from all the moisture trapped on this side of the mountains

Cruising up at FL235 looking back at the high Andes

Looking north as the Andes continue to march on beyond the horizon

The last of the highlands as the Amazon basin stretches out to the horizon past the mountains

Tarapoto, Peru - surrounded by the last of the highlands

The Maranon and Ucayali Rivers flow together to become the Amazon

Getting back on course - also where did my traffic display go up until now? Well it's back now

Just making out some of the river through the storm clouds

Still near the river, but not going to be seeing it for a while with this stormy overcast

Things are breaking up a bit - hopefully moreso by the time I reach my destination

A bit of the Amazon River visible through the storm clouds

More dynamic cloudscapes above the Amazon basin

Final range check as I near descent and fuel is looking good. Weather radar shows the area around the airport should be okay

Going for "manual" course selection to steer towards open sky as I continue to descend on autopilot

So my plan was to fly straight-in based on winds information I looked up prior to approach but ATIS has changed my plans, telling me the active runway is opposite and I will have to circle to land

Zipping along the banks of the Rio Negro

Last look at blue sky before I head under the clouds

Skimming the cloud base as I approach Manaus

Reverse thrust and some heavy braking brings me down to taxi speed just at the end of the runway

Clearing the runway for parking

Great weather over Nanwalek, which is good cause there are already enough problems departing this airport without having to worry about the weather!

A King Air makes a landing attempt as I'm working through preflight

He made it down safely and departed back the way he came a short while later while I had my head down in the instruments

Working to manually level off at 2,500' as I head for Augustine Island

Mt Douglas looms up to the clouds in the south

Coming up on Augustine Island

Heading out from Augustine Island

Looking up Cottonwood Bay towards a prominent set of peaks I could not find a name for, but look cool

Headed out over Pile Bay on the far eastern shore of Iliamna Lake

Coming over the northern shore of Iliamna Lake and the green forests are a good sign that I might finally spot some hungry foraging bears out of hibernation. Roadhouse Mountain backdrops the scene

Coming about after my first inland pass - nothing to see here in this densely forested area

Keeping eyes peeled on the open sections of forest, but so far no luck

Coming around for one more pass inland across the open areas

No luck once again :/ Climbing out of the area and continuing on course
