Still scooting around clouds to stay up at 9,500'

Navigating mainly by water features on the GPS map as they correspond to the VFR charts

The southern slope of Mount Ontaki

The fuel gauge is not easy to keep an eye on and of course since running out of fuel that one time I've made a habit of checking it often and it's never been low enough for me to even notice

Coming up on the large crater of Aniakchak as I pass over the Alaska Peninsula National Wildlife Refuge

Heading out from Entebbe into relatively clear skies. Catch me next time, rain!

Stronsay Airport on the north end of the island as I preflight

The Scottish mainland off to the south

That's all I came to see. AP on, course set direct to Churchill Falls

Andrew flying over and again reporting he doesn't see enough room to land. Bummer

Visibility was good enough to stay low through the river valley for some fun flying

Passing the Cedar Point amusement park, home to some of the world's most famous roller coasters

And out over the Great Australian Bight it doesn't look much better either. I have very little fuel margin to deviate from my mostly direct course

Skimming around the rain band that was in front of me, not far inland but still can no longer see the coast

Cruising FL295 into the sunrise

Coming in a bit steep and hot!

Iffy weather over Christmas Island but it looks like it could be clearing up. Fingers crossed!

Thankfully not departing this way, although the wind is almost right across the runway so I could if I wanted to, but the skies look better in the other direction, which is also the way I want to travel anyways

Departing from Christmas Island

Managing to scrape past but not through any clouds as I climb away from Christmas Island on course, so I wasn't aiming to miss I just happened to miss

Like I said, plenty of range to get where I need to go at full cruise power

Feet dry over the land down under

Back to local atmospheric pressure *pats back*

Trying to look north and see the volcanic peaks of Towada-Hachimantai National Park but clouds ruin the view

Taxiing out - winds were blowing a bit more towards the opposite end, and I would have to climb uphill a bit to takeoff with a hill at the end of the runway, but you know what? I want to takeoff in the direction I'm heading, dammit

Coming ashore over North Ronaldsay, the northern-most island of the Orkneys

The airport at North Ronaldsay as I come about to head towards the next island

Inviting waters in the Bay of Skall as I setup for pattern to Westray airport

Zipping over the fence on short final

Just lightning, not an atomic bomb test. Hey this flight might be interesting after all since there's really no other reason to look out the window

Downwind leg looking back at Nice

Glad I chose 4L to keep 4R available to AI traffic so I didn't have to deal with any go-arounds. Making sure this guy is slowing at the end of his roll before crossing

Woooaaahhh Nelly! Literally seconds after releasing brakes the nose just wants to fly right up. I didn't notice this at the time but my elevator trim had traveled allll the way back to full pitch up

FL295 cruise altitude achieved as I pass over Elgin

Looking back towards Westdahl Peak and the Pogromni Volcano as the sun continues to set

Cruising past the Isanotski Peaks

Coming back up on Frosty Peak, burnished by the sunset

FL275 and cruising just above the clouds

It is dark. Too dark. But will that stop me?? No. Not it will not

I think you can see better in this image than I actually could looking at my monitor - I know for sure I didn't see where the trees were I just did my best to keep it straight on departure

Almost getting a little spatial disorientation looking out the window, seeing nothing. Eyes on the instruments. Eyes on the instruments....

Let's try this again, this time following the field rules of being closed to operations until 30min prior to sunrise. Which is now

Much better take off actually knowing where the trees are and that I am for sure straight on departure. Hey look following the regs makes sense! Sometimes it's hard to force yourself to do this in a sim tho

Departing from First Flight airfield

Passing over Oregon Inlet and the swept bridge across it

Looking down at the seaside neighborhoods just waking up

Getting ready to come around Cape Hatteras
