Pacific sea fog rolling inland across Viña del Mar as I make land fall over the South American continent
Range looks good after the climb to altitude. Will check again when over Greenland. Swept up in the jet stream so being carried along at over 400kts! This was planned, I checked the winds before departing, and will be a major factor in whether I need to stop and refuel
Getting ready to taxi out together in our Cubs. Rockin the bush wheels for the first time with the upgraded Ford Mustang V6 engine aboard as well
Had to take off west into the 15-20kts of wind so swung around the Cape and the lighthouse on it to begin heading north up the shore
Glad I won't be venturing further north along the coast cause the weather isn't looking so great up ahead
Clouds are starting to scatter as I reach Texas, as expected, which is good because this is the longest leg on which I'll be holding a bearing so lots of time for deviation to throw me well off course
Old city by the coast, new city inland. In front of my right wing is the large Plaza Las Américas shopping mall with some sports arenas behind my wing
Turning to track the 071 radial out of West Palm Beach VOR and begin the journey over the Atlantic to Grand Bahama Island
Oh, it was telling me ITT was about to go critical! Interesting I never noticed the warning before so I guess other times I was in external view or the temp hit redline so fast it didn't have time for the warning
Descending towards Manaus over several rain showers, will just miss that cumulus cloud billowing up to my left as I head for a hole in the distance
I can't catch a break!!! Almost made it up to cruise altitude and my pressurization system fell behind
Well at least paying my landing/tie down fees will be easy! Look forward to the next leg, this plane is fun
Oooh a road! Unfortunately the Canadian charts up here that I am using are not as detailed as the US VFR charts and most roads are not charted. Also note my manifold pressure has dropped below the 30" I set it to earlier as I'm so high the superchargers can't quite keep up
Don't look too closely at this photo of me parked at Fair Isle. I forgot to work out the dual-scenery conflict before loading the flight. Oh well
