If two humps are better than one, are two camels also better than one? I think so.
They both managed to give me the same sleepy expression. These are Bactrian camels since they have two humps. Dromedary camels have just one hump. Our tour guide at the Wilds, Lee, said you can remember this by thinking of the capital letters 'B' and 'D'. The 'B' has two humps, thus Bactrian, while the 'D' has one hump for Dromedary.
This photo is going to be one of my entries into this month's Ohio Foothills challenge, "Four-Legged Creatures". It was taken on a visit to the Wilds with my father.
This card is for SSS flickrchallenge #2. I used the Simon Says Stamp extra large dots stencil. For tic-tac-toe, I chose polka dots, ribbon, and die cut.
For the 1st Flickr Challenge---here's a photo of me from 1986. I was visiting Austin, TX with a family friend and had on my uniform of thrift shop men's shirts (of which I'd cut the collars off) and Converse high tops.

This building is in use at the UW Madison by the DoIT, and it's a place where they do a lot of multimedia computer programming for instructors. Sure looks it, doesn't it? I hear it may be torn down soon.
My two kids that are the light of my life. I can't imagine my life without them, they are true blessings.
Created this card for the Simon Says flickrchallenge#110. Using the Sketched Flowers stamp set and my new intense color blocks on craft paper.
For several years, I have been mistakenly calling these "Sweet Williams" because that's what I thought it was. But I now know it is Dame's Rocket, or one of many other names that you can read below if interested.
These bloom along a path I frequent regularly. I was surprised to learn that it is considered invasive in some areas. I would say that might be the case here too, since it is growing near some other invasive plants like Garlic Mustard and Bush Honeysuckle.
I enjoy seeing and photographing these flowers, but I am sorry that they have become a problem.
This will be my second entry into the Ohio Foothills May challenge - "May Flowers".
Here's a few paragraphs from Wikipedia ... link below ...
Hesperis matronalis is a herbaceous plant species in the mustard family, Brassicaceae. It has numerous common names, including dame’s rocket, damask violet, dame’s violet, dames-wort, dame’s gilliflower, night-scented gilliflower, queen’s gilliflower, rogue’s gilliflower, summer lilac, sweet rocket, mother-of-the-evening and winter gilliflower. Plants are biennials or short-lived perennials, native to Eurasia and cultivated in many other areas of the world for their attractive, spring-blooming flowers. In some of those areas, it has escaped cultivation and become a weed species.
It is considered an invasive species in some areas; three U.S. states have set the following legal status for it: Colorado: noxious weed (on B-list), with plans for eradication or management varying by area and year; Connecticut: invasive and banned, e.g. illegal to move, sell, purchase, transplant, cultivate, or distribute; and Massachusetts: prohibited.
Dame's Rocket was brought to North America in the 17th century and has since become naturalized there.

Everyday in May challenge - drawing something every day in May
Challenge #1: Draw a bar of soap. (first day challenge; I'm late as usual.)
inktense pencils
I had gotten my mother's Dibs out of the freezer for a "Flickr Challenge Group" shot and was just about to snap it when a hand snuck in and grabbed one. I turned the camera on her and got a shot of the theif. LOL (She of course said "DON"T YOU DARE")..I laughed and said "Already did".
A cropped version of this can be found Here
For the Flickr Challenge group. That's me in the middle, age 7, wearing way too much neon. I was particularly proud of the hat, which I seem to recall picking out myself. I loved that the snap on the front held the sunglasses I'm wearing in the photo (which had neon pink arms). I was so cool.
Created for the SSS Flickrchallenge #91. most of the stamps are from the Talk Bubbles 2 stamp set. Other scattered stamps are from various SSS stamp sets.
It was an awesome day for birding in the snow! This series of shots is my first "Ohio" Golden-crowned Kinglet. I photographed some in the state of Washington during a trip there in April 2013. At that time, I was shooting photos outside our hotel since it was only a few hours until we had to head to the airport.
This time I went for a post workout walk along a wooded creek - a spot that has become one of my favorites in the past few years. Sometimes there are many birds. Other days I can't find any.
I could hardly believe my good fortunate as a veered off the trail and toward the creek. This little guy (orange makes him male) was on a tree and actually flew closer to me. I got three shots of him before he flew off to another tree. They are shared in the comments below and also in my photostream.
I also photographed chickadees, a mocking bird and several varieties of sparrows.
I decided not to grout the brown vitreous glass and now Im kinda sorry. I dont know if I could actually do it now as the pieces on the frame are fragile.
I still have to put something between the mirror and shells and Im toying with the idea of bird seed or sand (which was suggested by someone) if you have any ideas Im game to hear them!!!!
What an awesome start to Summer! The beach was packed at English Bay and all the people were so happy to see the sun again. Truly an awesome sight.

Challenge #5: Draw some scissors
I was planning to collect several scissors but too tired for anything better then this one..
inktense pencils
This card was made with MFTWSC 492 as inspiration. I love challenges because they help me break out of my boring box! :) I was looking through my NBUS/barely used stuff bin and pulled out the Adi die by Birch Press. I finished it with a string of sentiments from SSS Tiny Words on banners. The SSS FlickrChallenge #151 is Anything Goes, so I'm entering there.
Since I love clouds and take many, many cloud photos, it was really hard for me to make my final decision for the Ohio Foothills Challenge - "Puffy clouds included" but here it is.
These clouds were outside of Nashville (Ohio, not Tennessee) during a visit to see family two summers ago. It had been a particularly stormy weekend with a confirmed tornado near my aunt and uncle's house the day before. Fortunately, there was not much damage.
However, the storm did create some terrific clouds, as you can see here. That's one big cloud!
I never knew how colorful blueberries could be before getting my 100mm f2.8 macro lens up close to these beauties. Of the 3-4 years we have had the blueberry bush, we haven't gotten any blueberries from it. The birds and rabbits always seem to get to it first, even though we have tried to keep them out with various covers. Time will tell if this year's critter prevention will work.
This is my second entry into the Ohio Foothills group's May challenge. The photo must be taken during this month of May and within one mile of home. Both of my photos were on my property.
This card is for SSS flickrchallenge #2. For tic-tac-toe, I chose leaves, paper piecing, and die cut.

The sun finally made it thru the clouds but gave us a cool lighting effect by blocking some of the suns rays from getting thru. It just kept changing thruout the first rays of sunlight as to where the light would fall thru the clouds.
Beautiful crisp morning and being out with my Flickr photo friends made it even nicer.
Formerly the oldest jail in Ohio, according to some reports, the Pike County Jail met its fate on August, 22, 2009, as it was demolished by a trackhoe. The jail can be seen in the foreground and the court house is in the background.
The jail was deemed unfit and closed in 2005 due to its age and the discovery of black mold.
The court house is waiting to be touched up and repaired.
UPDATE, June 2010: The court house has had its wood repainted and other areas repaired now. The jail area is now an empty lot. There are several historical markers in that area. Here's a link to the historical significance of the court house and the other places in that general vicinity: www.hmdb.org/marker.asp?marker=25346
I don't know what it is, but I knew I had to get some photos of this insect that looked like a green leaf crawling around on the back porch ceiling.
The first shot in the comments section is the only shot I was able to get on the first night that I spotted it. I made the mistake of touching the window screen in hopes of getting it to go more toward the light, but instead it flew off. :(
So, when it returned and was crawling around on the ceiling, I decided to make the most of my second opportunity. It seemed to be licking/sucking/eating something on the ceiling ... perhaps teeny tiny insects that I couldn't see. Or else the ceiling just tasted good.
At any rate, this shot will be my other entry into the Ohio Foothills challenge for the month. There were two themes - "Puff-orama" for horizontal/panoramic puffy cloud shots and then there was "Vampire Shoot" which meant the shot had to be taken after dark.
Looking at my camera EXIF data, it shows that this photo was taken at 11:03 p.m., definitely after dark. I was pleasantly surprised at how well the pop-up flash on the camera worked for fill in this situation, especially with the 100mm f2.8 macro lens. There are 12 more shots in the comments section.
In my search for neon for the Ohio Foothills group's August challenge, I found county fairs to have some interesting subjects and offerings. While the "Pepsi-Cola" sign is the only true neon, I found the other words interesting enough to keep in the composition.

Yes, these do look too good to be eaten. And yes, they did taste wonderful!
This photo is another example of why it pays to always have a camera, even if it is just a pocket camera.
My friend invited me to her church's picnic and these creative "pie cupcakes" were on the desert table. They apparently were too pretty to eat because not many people took them. So, I had to help out by taking one of each kind. :)
I don't photograph food very often because it makes me crave what I see on the screen.
This is one of my entries in the Ohio Foothills July 2011 Challenge - "Americana". Check out the group page if you are interested in joining the fun.
