The Ohio Foothills Flickr group's challenge for December is "Heartfelt Christmas Card".
This challenge was a challenge in itself, because it really made me think about what I could come up with for a Christmas card. Thanks to the Lucas family for sharing their love of Christ in their front yard with this lighted manger scene.
created for the SSS flickrchallenge #90, Love / Hearts. I have used the Simon Says large hearts dies, cutting them from a Pink Fresh 6x6 paper, I added some doodles to the hearts. The hugs die is from MFT and the small sentiment is from SSS as well.
Created this card for the Simon Says flickrchallenge#110. Using the Sketched Flowers stamp set and my new intense color blocks on craft paper.
Made this card for SSS Flickrchallenge 96, embossing. All stamps and stencils are from Simon Says Stamps and heat embossed in clear with versa fine black onyx ink.
I made these two cards using Simon Says Stamp September card kit. Entering them to the flickrchallenge #78 ❤
**P.S. decided (since this was Valentine's Day and this is a love-bug :) to use this one in the Ohio Foothills challenge along with the Roonie one (I seem to be stuck on cars lately)...anyway, this one also is more red than foothills, but it can be found at the Casa del Bloomfield (hee-hee!) on Shyville Road :)
O.K.--so you know how in the previous pic there were TWO red vehicles in Mr. B.'s back yard on Shyville Road??? Well, ta-da! This is the other one...a cute little 1968 VW convertible (I'm tellin' ya...he LOVES his bugs!). Anyway, after trespassing on his icy property (JUST KIDDING---I totally asked permission), I took dozens of pics of this bug and the Lloyd. Needless to say based upon my recent uploads, this red Ohio Foothills February Flickr challenge (say that ten times fast!) has created a monster...I can't seem to stop seeing "red" (hope that saying isn't some ominous prediction of anger coming into my life--ha!). Funny how I was struggling to find red...now I'm struggling to pick two for the challenge :) Happy Valentine's Day everyone!
In the brief warm spell (30 degrees F), I wanted to get out for some snow shots today, so after my workout, I took a walk along path by the wooded creek. Getting "off the beaten path" gave me the opportunity to find many interesting photographic subjects. It was a great day for birds, but I still found other items to photograph like this leftover plant. I'm thinking that this may be Ironweed based on the similarities to the one I posted in the fall (also posted in the comments).
This will also be my second entry into the Ohio Foothills challenge - "Winter Wonderland."
This gentleman came along promoting a show he was in..........
he stuck the flyer down the front of my shirt as he passed.
Boy, was that a surprise! He was really into playing his part ..floating,
swinging & spinning around on his stilts.
Take a look at all of my Venice Beach photos ........

During my younger years, I referred to this as the 'really cool old bridge'. I went climbing on the rock, "Roche de Boeuf," with my dad, uncle, aunt and cousins. We also have done some fishing in the area. My dad and uncle know the river well and had us wading to the "good spots". It is always a fun time.
Yesterday I shared a shot from down stream. Today I am sharing this shot from above and will be entering this in the Ohio Foothills March Competition - "Bridges."
I didn't want to repost the same historical information from yesterday, so I am including some information from Wikipedia.
From Wikipedia ... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Interurban_Bridge
The Interurban Bridge, also known as the Ohio Electric Railroad Bridge, is a historic interurban railroad bridge built in 1908 across the Maumee River joining Lucas and Wood counties near Waterville, Ohio. It is now located in Farnsworth Metropark. One of the bridge's supports is the Roche de Boeuf, a historic Indian council rock, which was partially destroyed by the bridge construction.
On June 19, 1972, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places.
For SSS Flickrchallenge#85, Christmas theme. This set is an oldie but a goodie, it's the Merry and Bright stamp set.
Deven really gets going on his swing. I may photoedit out the chains on this one and try and put in a hogwarts-style broomstick at some point, but for now I'm extremely happy with the "frozen action" feel of this one.
A Speke's Gazelle faces a White Rhino at the Phoenix Zoo
The Southern White Rhinoceros (Ceratotherium simum simum) is one of the two subspecies of the White Rhinoceros or Square-lipped rhinoceros (the other being the much rarer Northern White Rhino). The White Rhino is one of the five species of rhinoceros that still exist and is one of the few megafaunal species left. It has a wide mouth used for grazing and is the most social of all rhino species. This photo was taken at the Phoenix Zoo on March 12, 2011.

It was too cold for my neighbor Betty's crocus to open up the night I went over to get some shots for our Ohio Foothills Flickr Challenge. I actually think these look more interesting closed because you can see the stripes on them. Thank you Betty for sharing your flowers!

Challenge #4: Draw some salt and pepper shakers
Alas, I do not have matching pepper shaker
inktense pencils
This was created for the SSS Flickrchallenge#74, Stunning Stencils. The background was a discarded experiment, but I decided to use the swirls and dots stencil with glass bead paste, giving it a cool texture. I then cut the single roses dies out of plain white. All products from Simon Says Stamps
The new Simon Says Stamp Hello Beautiful release is here! I created this card with the Mix & Match Circles stencil from the release. Going to add this to the SSS flickrchallenge of anything goes, as well as the SSS Wednesday challenge of anything goes. I used distress oxide inks for a very soft look on my background.

Photographing the county fair always provides a wealth of great picture opportunities. This was definitely the most lively and intrigued swine I've ever seen in the hog barn. I took multiple shots of its varying expressions, but this one was my favorite.
This is my second entry into the Ohio Foothills September challenge, "Four-Legged Creatures".
Submission for Simon Says flickrchallenge#79. All products are from SSS except the embossing folder, from Sizzix. I'm in desperate need of birthday cards, I stamped 4 of the same backgrounds I'm working on 4 different cards. The others will be posted soon.

Did not realized I have such a mess under my table...
inktense pencils
I had a very nice delivery of flowers from the company my husband works for this morning....... just in time for the D90/D5000 fortnightly challenge.
This is one of those cards I'm not sure about. I'm starting to like it more and more. I created the background by using several of SSS Stencils with Distress Oxide inks. Then I stamped the heart from the I see you stamp set and the sentiment from Hello Beautiful. All images are from Simon Says stamps. Submitted to the SSS Flickrchallenge#74, Stunning Stencils.
Heat embossed in gold the Simon Says Ornate Ornaments, together with sentiment from Clean Line Christmas.
Entering this into the Simon Says Flickrchallenge#187 and Lovechallenge#70.
The historic relevance of Eden Baptist Church, located on Nipgen Road in Pike County, has been documented with an Ohio Historical Marker. I also saw a photo of this church in a museum at Monticello (near Charlottesville, Virginia), the home of Thomas Jefferson, due to its significance with slavery and the Sally Hemmings connection. Some of the Hemmings' moved to Pike County and are buried in the cemetery.
Here is a link for those interested in reading more: www.monticello.org/plantation/hemingscontro/appendixh.html
This is a double sided marker.
The side you see in this photo reads:
The residents of PP Settlement organized the Eden Baptist Church, formerly known as the Union Baptist Church of the PP Hills, in 1824. The cemetery, located about three miles south, marks the original site of the church. It was established as an anti-slavery Baptist Church taking a proactive stand against slavery. Several of the members of the congregation were station keepers on the Underground Railroad. The church served as the social and religious center for this African American community. Though the PP Settlement declined in the last half of the twentieth century, the Eden Baptist Church continued its religious leadership.
The other side reads:
Thirteen African American families migrated to Pebble Township in Pike County in the early 1820s from Virginia. Some of the families were former slaves while others were freeborn people of color. Their farm knowledge and skill helped to make them prosperous, angering some of their white neighbors who began a campaign of harassment. Ten of the original African American settlers eventually moved away, but despite the difficulties with the white population, other African Americans continued to arrive to the settlement. They founded a church, later known as the Eden Baptist Church, built a meeting hall, and organized a school. Several of the families were also involved in the activity of the Underground Railroad. The PP Settlement thrived until the 1950s when, for economic reasons, residents moved to other communities.

Made some mini notepads to gift to colleagues.
For the gray book, I used the lattice grid stamp with the 'mini you' stamp set
For the white book, I used the henna pattern set with the you matter stamp set - all from SSS
The sentiment is on a scrap piece of a background I created with several of the SSS Stencils and Distress Oxide inks. Striped background is also a SSS stencil and the sentiment is a die from Simon Says Stamps as well. Submitted to the SSS Flickrchallenge#74, Stunning Stencils.
Created for the SSS Flickrchallenge #91. All images are from SSS stamp sets, most are from the Talk Bubbles 2 set.
This is one of my two shots for the Ohio Foothills July 2010 challenge - "Red, White and Blue". It certainly was a challenge to photograph this water globe.
I want to thank both of my parents for helping me with this shoot. I had my Dad holding it outside at various angled and locations, but the reflections were too harsh. Then my Mom held the scarf behind it when I was shooting in the house. These turned out to be the best.
This is a Hallmark globe. Here's what the box says about it: "Celebrating our country's rich heritage and founding principles, Hallmark is honored to offer this limited edition water globe. The Statue of Liberty, a symbol of hope and freedom, stands proud and tall as the centerpiece, with the stars and stripes waving beneath her. The patriotic, star-spangled salute is crowned with a musical rendition of the Star Spangled Banner. Display it proudly and let freedom ring."
