This is Dot, the Chickadee. I call her Dot because of the tiny white spot above her eye. Dot has complete trust in me and lands on my hand for treats without hesitation.

For Flickr Friday's "Play Ball" theme I really wanted to do something with levitation.

I tried a couple different ideas, with this being the better executed of them, but it feels to me like the final image doesn't really convey a strong sense of levitation - that the "happy fun ball" is so powerful that it's lifted me right off the ground.

(it also didn't help that I'm stuck inside, leaving me very limited space to setup and shoot these things)

People have done this and I hold my breath when they do. A few have not had a good outcome.

This took me about 50 tries on burst mode to capure it half decent. A demonstration of the release of electric energy. Or as my wife called it, "What the hell are you doing down there?!"

The light passes through his head but not into the light bulb. Guess that's on him.

The focal plane, like this dime, can be very thin.
