As I said to Sue under the previous color version, even though I thought a BW version could be better, I was so stuck with the idea of the irony of color for the old age and BW for the lovelier young age, I did not even try it.

With Sue's encouragement, here is the BW version. It would have been a better choice.

The lesson learned once again is to try every idea you have.

These sheep are actually triplets and are quite curious about finding a triple set of lenses!

Nobody knows, what time it really is.

Better viewed large and thank you for your favourites.

I found this yesterday below the large Tupelo tree in my yard. It's light as a feather, yet look at the dense growth rings! It's about 10 inches long and 3 inches wide, likely longer before it broke off. This limb grew for many, many years! It provided a perch for all kinds of birds and small mammals, and lived through all the extremes of the four seasons. At some point it stopped growing and likely still remained on the tree for years until it was knocked off by a heavier branch recently during a storm. It had many, many Better Days prior to being broken off. But its Better Days continue in a new way: as a multi-ringed document of a long and helpful part of the old Tupelo tree.

Flicker Friday - Pieces

Tree branches have been used to construct this very primitive fence.

Explosion of colours and stars in the Alberta skies.

For my first attempt at a Flick Friday submission, I wanted to try some clever editing, but instead I've learned that I really have no idea how to work effectively with Photoshop!

This isn't exactly what I had envisioned, but figured it's close enough.

Looking forward to seeing all the other submissions!

An ad on the side of a building has always caught my attention on my late night walks home, but this time it was different, something, a mysterious moment that I just had to capture. The surrealism of my life encompassed.

Song of the Bees

by Hannah Flagg Gould

We watch for the light of the morn to break

And color the eastern sky

With its blended hues of saffron and lake,

Then say to each other, "Awake! awake!

For our winter's honey is all to make,

And our bread for a long supply!"

Then, off we hie to the hill and the dell,

To the field, the meadow and bower.

In the columbine's horn we love to dwell,

To dip in the lily with snow-white bell,

To search the balm in its odorous cell,

The mint and the rosemary-flower.

We seek the bloom of the eglantine,

Of the painted thistle and brier;

And follow the steps of the wandering vine,

Whether it trail on the earth, supine,

Or round the aspiring tree-top twine,

And reach for a state still higher.

As each, on the good of her sisters bent,

Is busy and cares for all;

We hope for an evening with hearts content,

For the winter of life without lament

That summer is gone with its hours misspent,

And the harvest is past recall!

Didn't make the #FlickerFriday cut...

I broke the rules by posting after they made their new Friday challenge on Friday... I mean Thursday. Guess they can't even follow their own rules. Pffft.

Bottles in the Sun

The bloom of a prickly pear cactus provides the best visual clue of the species of cactus. Spring unlocks the mystery of the unassuming prickly pear along the path in Cullen Country Park in Buda Texas. The plant that I have walked past countless times jumps up and declares that I take notice.

This common darter dragonfly has chosen to warm himself in the sun on a dried cowpat. From his point of view it probably looks like the perfect landing pad!
