In the Northern Hemisphere, it always occurs around December 21 or 22. (In the Southern Hemisphere, it is around June 20 or 21.) This date is considered to be the first day of Winter.
We are supposed to get another round of cold and snow this week so any remnants of Fall that are clinging on will certainly disappear! Hope your week is starting off great!

I was at this location to do a family portrait session. I arrived a little early and while testing the light this gem was just aglow with great light and colors.
Scan from negative. Came across this negative in searching my family's vast ANALOG archive for some family photos for a memorial service.
This image from 2004 (I believe) and one of my favorites of my three sons. This, one of a handful from that time that inspired me to pursue photography as a hobby. This capture made with a Canon 35mm point-and-shoot (sure shot). Unbelievably, this frame a one-off on the roll. Purchased my first DSLR in 2006 - a Canon 20D.
