Just one of many scenes captured during the 18-19 months of lockdown (England, UK). Eerily foreboding is the historical and beautiful grounds of Newstead Abbey; usually a steady bustle of locals and tourists is visibly closed for business under this brooding sky.

A pandemic doesn't end just because we are bored with it all now. Don't let your guard down now my Flickr friends. Testing is about to be drawn down and figures are already unreliable. Decisions are being made that are not based on science but are instead, politically motivated. Stay safe my Flickr friends.

Market Street, Manchester, England.

Six days after ‘Lockdown’ restrictions were eased in England non-essential shops were allowed to open; the public were out in force once again. Even the pouring rain couldn’t persuade them to ‘Social Distance’ themselves from other members of the public; the queues just keep coming and coming; along with a second wave of Covid-19 ….. in my opinion…..!!!!!

Candid eye contact street photography from Glasgow, Scotland. His bag says "Doing Our Bit" in relation to recycling I imagine but it is a suitable title for the pandemic too as both my subject and I are wearing masks here. A 'thank you' was shared between us both after I took this. Enjoy!

Captain Charlie, decked out in patriotic face covering, narrated our scenic cruise on Yellowstone Lake aboard the Lake Queen II on September 1, 2021. My daughter had never done this tour so we decided to take it. I usually just rent a boat at the Bridge Bay Marina but do take the big tour boat now and then to hear what visitors to Yellowstone National Park learn when they take the cruise.

Fall in Downtown Baker City Oregon getting ready for Halloween

Out exploring historic downtown Baker City, Oregon on a beautiful fall day with lots of fall foliage and scarecrows popping up as we get closer to Halloween.

Baker City, Oregon’s historic downtown is one of the largest and most intact turn of the 20th century downtowns in the Northwest and is surrounded by historic neighborhoods. The downtown has been beautifully restored and revitalized over the years and is a vibrant and bustling district with lots of small locally owned shop. Throughout the year, the downtown hosts a number of festive celebrations and special events.

Even during this year of COVID, business was brisk with lots of customers both local and visitors wearing masks and strolling the streets and visiting shops in small groups. Business owners have adapted well to the new normal and while working diligently to keep everyone's safety a top priority, seem to be adjusting to the new normal for small businesses in a COVID era

Visitors to downtown will find numerous art galleries throughout Baker City’s historic downtown including the Crossroads Carnegie Art center in the restored Carnegie Library building as well as multiple restaurants and a variety of gourmet and artisan food and spirits. And while shopkeepers are masked up, they are visibly happy to greet and wait on customers who are also willing to follow the current CDC guidelines

Birmingham is on the watch list so it is face coverings on the streets. This Bowie picture is the third iteration by Annatomix whose artwork both street and paintings I do admire.

some reflective distractions while out celebrating Small Business Saturday, shopping small and supporting local in Baker City, Oregon

One of the best ways to experience a community is by visiting the locally owned independent businesses that reflect the unique and local character of the community. This weekend was a great start to what is definitely a different Christmas season. With lots of COVID precautions in place it was great to see so many folks out spreading holiday cheer and supporting local this weekend for black Friday and Small Business Saturday in Downtown Baker City

The small towns of Baker County offer a cornucopia of local and independent small businesses, many featuring locally crafted products that are made in, and in some cases can only be found in Baker County.

Baker City's historic downtown is one of the largest intact turn of the 20th century historic districts in the American West with over 100 buildings on the National Register of Historic Places. today the downtown has been lovingly restored and the historic district is now a thriving downtown home to numerous art galleries, restaurants, micro breweries and local independently owned shops, making it the perfect destination for celebrating the holidays and shopping small unique businesses.

Candid eye contact street photography from Glasgow, Scotland. Honestly, there is little point in wearing a face covering if it doesn't even fit your face - not least that it looks really uncomfortable! Stay safe my Flickr friends and keep hope in your hearts for a better time ahead :)
