The shop was opened by Ernest Whiteley in 1901 and was eventually passed down to his granddaughter Ann Clough. Ms Clough was a well-known Bridlington resident and she ran the shop from approximately 1960 .
Sue Walker worked with Ms Clough for 35 years and took over running the shop when Ms Clough was admitted to a care home around three years ago.
Ms Clough died aged 90 in November 2023, however her legacy at Ernest Whiteley and Co is still strong- with Sue continuing to sell the stock and run the shop the way Ms Clough liked until it is eventually sold.
Sue said: “Ann never wanted to change things in the shop. Her grandfather paid over £1000 for the cases in the 1930s, which was an awful lot of money back then.
“He spent all of his life making that money and spent so much time making the shop what it was, she did not want to change it. It’s history! read more @

Lost Villages Museum - Located in Ault Park in Long Sault, Ontario, the museum site consists of ten heritage buildings, moved and restored to Ault Park from The Lost Villages and surrounding townships by the members of The Lost Villages Historical Society.
Both the interiors and exteriors of the buildings have been restored, and they have been assembled in a village-like setting at Ault Park. The buildings commemorate the inundation of lands to the south of the museum complex on July 1, 1958.

En el pueblo de L'ARGENTERA en la Comarca del Baix Camp de Tarragona, la luz que se introduce en la pequeña y preciosa plaza de la església de Sant Bartomeu nos ayuda a colocar los elementos del paisaje, las escaleras que nos conducen a la puerta de la iglesia, los adoquines del suelo y el conjunto de las casas acompañan el rayo de sol que acaricia el suelo junto a la fachada del monumento barroco. En estos lugares de muchos pueblos de Catalunya encuentro los motivos que me ayudan a inspirarme para pintar la belleza en su serenidad plástica. Perhaps one of the most beautiful Cattleya hybrids ever created by Ernest Hetherington, who just passed away at the grand age of 99. A mentor of mine and many others who grow and appreciate orchids. He was one of those most responsible for my early learning and encouragement in orchids while I was employed at Stewart Orchids in the 1980's. RIP Mr. Hetherington.

La estación del metro de EAST FINCHLEY, EAST FINCHLEY STATION, en el barrio de Barnet en la ciudad de LONDRES, paisaje urbano en el suave atardecer, la profundidad de los raíles nos llevan la mirada hasta el infinito en una de las pocas estaciones que se encuentran al aire libre, los edificios y construcciones contribuyen a formar un apacible lugar con pocas personas en los andenes.
Walking aimlessly around the coliseum in Arles, we eventually came upon Rue Ernest Renan on the north side. Ernest Renan was a French expert of Middle East ancient languages and civilizations.
That this street was named after him is not particularly exceptional; there are many streets across France named after him. But the cobblestones, blue doorway and shutter, with potted plants was too pretty to pass by without a photo.
