This allows a crew to work on preparing the footing, while the rebar is being tied in place. Then once the footing is prepared, the rebar is ready to be lifted and placed in the footing excavation.

The deck rebar is set, tied off and ready for the concrete pour. Since this deck rests directly on the concrete box beams below, the reinforcement seen here is not structural and is only used to prevent large cracks due to temperature fluctuations and shrinking of the concrete. It may seem like a sea of green rebar on the deck, but the amount used here is actually very small compared to a structural deck which must span in between beams.
The large yellow truss on the bridge is a machine that automatically finishes off the top of the deck. It’s supported by rollers that run on along tubes that are set at the edges of the deck. One of the things we do during design is set the elevation of these “screed rails”. They are set with the deflection of the bridge built in. That way when the weight of the wet concrete causes the bridge to sag downward the deck surface will be at the right elevation.
This bar in downtown Baltimore, MD was just completely renovated. TruCrete System's HBE100 high build epoxy and Shimmer Effect Pigments were used to resurface the concrete floor. PAP 85 and flakes were also used to go over the wood bar top. Gorgeous look!
