Not seen this one before, nice find at Forest Fawr today.
I've decided to start posting on flickr again, though I'm going to turn off commenting and post lots and lots of photos - I don't have the time to spend here like I used to, so if you want to look just look, that's fine - I mostly post on Facebook now, the only problem with that is that the quality of photos is ruined - so if I want to share a link with how the original photo looked I now can through flickr.

Wow. Okay she only has one piece of elastic. From the back legs, one half of each leg goes down into a front leg, the other halves go up through the human torso to the head.

It is only the beginning of the year and I am feeling like a piece of elastic stretched as far as it can go. My own fault, got over committed and having difficulty fulfilling the commitments. I know this is going to ease off before long so I am hanging in!
Stitch the ends of the elastic together to make a circle. I overlap my elastic slightly and zigzag across it 4 times.

Ottobre patterns don't include seam allowances, the magazine tells you to add 1cm seam allowance to ALL edges unless they're being bound or cut on a fold. This includes hems and waistband casings which means that the elastic casing foldline shown on the pattern (dashed line) needs to have 1cm added along the top edge when I cut it from the fabric.
I rarely use elastic the same width as the magazine states so when cutting I sit my elastic on top of the pattern with the bottom edge lined up with the casing foldline as shown above, this lets me check just how much extra I have to add to get the right width casing.
These Topshop plimsolls are marked sizre 40 - feel like size 38 or 39 ! Very tight on- you can see the elastic is well stretched.
The pattern has a cute method of pulling up the overskirt so that more of the underskirt shows: some lengths of 1/4" elastic stitched with a triple-stitch. The shorter length elastic the more volume this adds to the overlay. A longer length will give a more subtle gather.
This skirt turned out too small for my daughter (some of the FB patterns run a bit small - remember to measure for best results!); I think of the little girl I'm going to gift this to and I think she'll love it.
