Drying all the crystal glasses with a cotton dishcloth before putting them away.
Cormorants in Regents Park. Taken at a distance but nice to see them in natural surroundings rather than on the usual posts.
The anhinga, sometimes called snakebird or darter, is a water bird of the warmer parts of the Americas. Unlike ducks, ospreys and pelicans which coat their feathers with oil from their uropygial gland, the anhinga does not have waterproof feathers. Their feathers get soaked upon immersion in water. Therefore, they cannot stay floating on water for long periods of time. The anhinga cannot fly with wet feathers. If it attempts to fly while its wings are wet, the anhinga has difficulty, flapping vigorously while "running" on the water. Like cormorants, the anhinga stands with wings spread and feathers fanned open in a semicircular shape to dry its feathers and absorb heat. They face away from the sun to dry their feathers.
Madidi is a national park in the upper Amazon river basin in Bolivia. It has an area of 18,958 square kilometres, and, along with the nearby protected areas Manuripi-Heath, Apolobamba, and (across the border in Peru) the Manu Biosphere Reserve, Madidi is part of one of the largest protected areas in the world.

Frohes Neues Jahr !
Lasst uns hoffen, dass wir das Trockendock der Pandemie bald verlassen und wieder in ein unbeschwertes Leben aufbrechen können !
Happy New Year !
Let us hope that we can leave the dry dock of the pandemic soon and start again into a carefree life !
An interesting sight I came across the other day. It seems this area of the lake has been taken over by the American Lotus plant and this is the view in the Fall after the plant's leaves die off. I thought it made for an interesting pattern and natural abstract of sorts.
Already dried a lonely leaf catches some low winter light allowing it glow. All I can say is it managed a great bronze tan!

sometimes it can be still warm enough to dry towels outside in September.
"Clothes Pegs is the theme for Looking close... on Friday! - October 1st.
J'aime bien faire sécher les serviettes dehors, même au mois de septembre c'est possible si on a une belle journée de soleil.
A large non-parasitic cuckoo endemic to the Indian Subcontinent. The bird is pretty large - maybe 40-45 cms and is quite famous for its beauty. This is also known as "Lipstick bird" for its reddish beak and beautiful eyelashes.
It habitat is the dry scrub land, forest edges and is often sighted on the ground hunting for insects. The birds are quite shy and behaviours are hard to predict - so it is tough to sight them at the same location again and again. On this day though, we hit the jackpot - spent an hour roughly with 2 birds and at times they got too close to get a full length shot. Luckily they were flying perch to perch continuously, so managed to get a few good flight shots.
Thank you so much in advance for your views, feedback and faves.
It is winter here and there are no live flowers left in the garden. For this theme I have chosen a section of dried white Hydrangea flower which I picked from the garden a few days ago.

There is a rice processing factory in Cai Rang that welcomes tourists. It produces rice paper and rice noodles.
Rice paper is indispensable for Vietnamese spring rolls. It is also provided in restaurants when you order something such as fish meat and prawn so that you can prepare your own spring rolls yourself.
It is the closest thing to Mexican corn tortillas.
Diameter of the rice papers in the photo was approximately 50 cm. They may be sold by cutting into smaller pieces.
The quintessential Australian Outback Riverbed - almost always dry.
This particular bed was on a track leading out to a disused mine somewhere between Broken Hill and Silverton. Didn't make it to the mine as the roads got boggy but at least I got this pic :-)
