A colorful macro view of a ¾ - inch Speedbor wood drilling drill bit.
Strobist/Technical info:
The scene was illuminated by two LED light panels placed 90° CL/CR and by a single Nikon SB900 speedlight placed 45°CL between the LED and the camera. The SB900 was fired in Manual mode @ ¼ power through a 24" x 24" soft box. It was triggered by two PocketWizard Plus X triggers.

As we stood there watching a radpidly rotating wall cloud spin west of Canadian, Texas...a little drillbit of a funnel started to drop and while it never touched the ground that we saw, it was stunning to see in person.

Business end of a Cummins 44 1/4" Hand Drill with Metal Body. I got it from my uncle but my search for this model has been fruitless.
One person's junk is another's treasure - this is my tin full of old Dremel bits, they have been replaced by newer bits but I am keeping these old ones just in case they might come in handy one day!
(I used Snapseed to enhance the glow/sparkle in this image, so that it hopefully looks a bit more like treasure).

Reliefs on the building depict the self-sharpening oil well drill bit that was the source of Howard Hughes' fortune.
Of course if you want a drill to be useful then you need each component of it to work. This is a drill bit and it needs to be the right bit for the right job. Getting small details wrong, like not having the appropriate bit risks making you look quite silly.

Large hole saw drill bit for cutting big 2 3/4 inch holes- mostly used for fitting downlights in wood or plasterboard.
Shot with a 55mm F2.8 manual lens at F8, tripod mounted, remote shutter and sidelit slightly from above and the front with a single spot. Image slightly cropped in Digikam, no other processing.
Treasure from the toolbox. Or just ordinary metal drill bits, or drill bits for metal...

DOW 7, a Doppler radar truck operated by the Center for Severe Weather Research, scans a tornado about to cross Saddle Road near Dodge City, Kansas, May 24. This is a shot I wish I had more time to take. As it was, I had to shoot it quickly through my car windscreen, as I was trying to avoid Death By Not Keeping Up With Tim Marshall. Tim was maybe a quarter mile ahead doing Ludicrous Speed west on this road to get in front of the new, developing tornado to the southeast, and his team placed their tornado probe in the path of the tornado with perhaps 30 to 45 seconds to spare as a new drillbit danced in a field 150 yards away.

Got my earth drilling gear out of the garage, fitted some new diamond drillbits and charged with plutonium...
Just had to get away for a bit!
This is a 1 1/2” carbon steel crimped wire drill bit. The strong & sharp wires go all around the bit. I got it to rough up some clear acrylic, but it’s mostly used to remove rust. Wound up using a metal flat-head (slotted) screwdriver to push out some of the spikes for more interest. Don’t use your fingers, as I tried at 1st. Ow. lol.. Happy Macro Monday!
Substantial patches of rust are visible on the flat blade of a 1 1/8-inch steel spade drill bit used for boring into wood.

At my old house, I enjoyed watching the male wren flying in and out of an outbuilding with nesting material, busily building a nest... and then more recently the adults constantly flying in and out with beakfuls of food. I hid myself a distance off from the door they were flying in, and was pleased when this adult stopped to pose on this old drill bit that was leaning against the building :D
At the moment we are in the middle of decorating and all my junk (including, as some have said, all my camera gear lol) is packed away in boxes. However I have kept some stuff out in case it is needed, I am not sure why I have included a sensor cleaning swab as I am not brave enough to mess with my camera sensor at all!
