0.7mm bit = very small

A small series around my school's workshop.

In two weeks time I'm done with school forever. It's a pretty daunting thought.

Used to drill into reinforced concrete, green concrete and abrasive material.

Features: Various techniques of diamond core drilling are Electric, Hydraulic and Pneumatic accessible for moist or dry drilling programs.

Designed for all types of wet drilling in applications with light to moderate steel.

How to use: Drilling method uses a diamond core drill bit fixed to the end of drill rod in the drilling machine or gear. Core drill bits have a hollow center and cut a circle in the material to create a hole. Bit is designed for general purpose, fast drilling with light to moderate steel. able to make holes of any dimension and depth

The last bits are easy... Use a centre-punch to mark the drill holes, drill out with a small drillbit, then use a varibit to get the exact sizes you want.

The stomp switch, gain pot, LED socket and jack sockets just need to be connected to your circuit. I'd recommend going here if you want details:

I'm reading Henry James these days.

Okay, so this is a start. There are about 8 things I'm unhappy about with this picture, and I already declared I was quitting (ahem, before even STARTING). I will try to relax.

Really weird and random fact: I love the smell of tools.

A drill bit about to be retired, you can see the lack of a sharp edge on the left side.

Dad gave me a Makita drill as a house warming present. I've got a lot of respect for Makita tools. Probably because my grandfather had a lot of respect for Makita tools (he was a master cabinetmaker).

You can tell I'm serious because I've wrapped gaffer tape around the drill bits so that I didn't slip and drill right through the door.

Now THAT'S a drill bit. Those studs are on 16" centers, baybee!

I'm upgrading my workbench, obviously with some new and some scrapped wood planks.

The white plank for example has almost 20 years, and survived a couple of small flood in my garage in the last years, It helped me in the past as makeshift table, I've cut away the bad parts and I'll use the good section to expand the left side of my workbench, so I can work with more space on the right side of it.

You have to start from somewhere with what you have.

Now I have an anvil too, it's slightly bigger than one my hammers :D, but it's too cute and will prove useful I'm sure.

I'll post a shot of the vise I've used when building Da Module Thingy, the poor lad cracked in half when crafting the outer shells, now there is a new one in place.

Having a bit more space will help in getting good quality records of the crafting process of my future projects.

July 02, 2014

Well, here it is. The half way point on my 365 day journey. The halfway point is actually 182.5, but we will just go with today.

So far, this project has had a different look and feel to it compared to my 2010 version. There are many things that factor into that. One thing is the new editing software I am using and the filters and adjustments it provides. But, I am keenly aware that the long winter, and multiple other stresses that I have been dealing with during this first 6 months, has had an effect on how I see the world through the camera. I also will think of a great idea and realize that I had done that the last time or at least something very similar. Sometimes that's ok, but other times not so much. But, some new ideas are blooming and maybe they will pan out, maybe not.

Halfway feels like a huge milestone this time. Can't give up hope that the next 6 months may prove to be even more challenging, and possibly a totally different perspective. And I am already starting to plan options for the final photo. Once your mind goes there, it is a sure sign that you are signed on bearing unforeseen obstacles.

Here's to the next 182.5 days.

The only difference w/ this shot from the one previous (other than the zoom of course) is that it is processed through DxO Optics Pro to remove a bit of noise in the white background.
