Monareliefye.org has distributed today 200 school bags to orphan and IDPs students in al-Mutnabi and al-Manar schools in Wadi Ahmed area in the capital Sana'a.

Our project was funded by an anonymous Kuwaiti donor along with the NGO’s online fund-raising campaign.

The two schools are located at Wadi Ahmed area, the most populated area in the capital Sana'a with almost 100,000 people there. Most families are poor and they can't get their food easily. The area also full of IDPs fled from many provinces in the country due to the ongoing conflict in Yemen.

IDPs chose to live in this area because the cost of rent for houses there is a little bit low comparing to houses in other areas in Sana'a.

Mona Relief's ground crew decided to deliver pupils there school bags due to the situation of their families who they are not able to buy them, bags, notebooks, pens or anything.

Most families there are under the poverty line and they can't provide their children daily food.

As we started distribution school bags to pupils in al-Manar and al-Mutnabi schools, we noticed that each class contains from 80-130 students comparing to the other schools in the capital Sana'a. However, the reason behind that is that there is only two schools in that area which are very close to all students living within.

The huge number of students in the Wadi Ahmed area reflects the suffer of students in each class. We have seen students keep standing all time of his studying day, some other sitting on the ground as others sitting on windows of their classes. Even if there is empty classes, there is enough chairs for all students and if there is chairs and classes, there is a lack of teachers to learn them.

Following a period of misfortunes to the family the dole was reinstated and continues today. The Dole is distributed to the inhabitants of the Parishes of Tichborne and Cheriton, adults receiving one gallon of flour and children half a gallon with a maximum of four gallons to a family. CLIFTON, Colo.- A local company raises thousands of dollars for families of soldiers killed or wounded in the war.

 

Central Distributing raised $40,000 for the National Folds of Honor program by having auctions and fundraisers at Country Jam and Rock Jam.

 

The Folds of Honor foundation plans on using this generous donation to help spouses and children of American soldiers killed or disabled in service. "We were able to get Motley Crue, as well as Three Doors Down to autograph. A couple of Budweiser guitars and some other things to auction off as well and we were able to raise this fantastic amount of money for the charity," said Mark Smith, district manager of Central Distributing.

 

The money is one of the largest amounts raised by the Central Distributing team.

During December 2- 16, 2015, the monareliefye.org was able to deliver IDPs and vulnerable families living in different areas in in and around the capital Sana'a with blankets, clothes and food aid packages.

Our campaigns lasted for almost two weeks and aimed at drawing attention of all human being in the world to the suffer of Yemenis under the war and blockade of Saudi regime on Yemen.

Artists, actors, singers and journalists from Yemen were invited by monareliefye.org to take part in the campaigns that almost succeeding in providing IDPs and vulnerable families different kinds of aid that they needed.

Each package consisted of the following items: 10kg flour, Ghee, 5 kg rice, tea packages, 2 kg sugar, 1kg lentils, and packet of salt. Each package cost Rs. 1800.

Variety,The Children’s Charity of Iowa, distributed bikes, bike helmets and bike locks on Saturday, June 30th to 101 preselected children. The bikes were given to children who do not have bikes of their own and have been sponsored by Bank of America in Des Moines. Bikes go hand in hand with being a kid, but for many kids in our community, the prospect of having their own bike is only a dream.

 

The lucky 101 children applied for and were awarded bikes, helmets, and bike locks at Howe Elementary School in Des Moines.

 

Volunteers from Bank of America and Young Variety helped make sure that all the bicycles and helmets were adjusted to fit each child.

Three Paralucia coppers in Australia, two are widely distributed in SE Australia, and a third, the Bathurst Copper (Paralucia spinifera) is known from a few sites in the hills of the central west of NSW to the west of Sydney. In Aug 2021 a population of a small blue copper butterfly is was adventitiously discovered by others in wooded hills in Namadgi NP to the south of Canberra, These were initially identified as Bathurst coppers and were as a couple of hundred kilometres south of other known sites. In Aug 2022, I went to a location where I thought it would like living and after some searching found them, breeding, another new location record for these insects. I found a number of other locations in the following days between bouts of winter weather. It gets more complex and interesting, in 2024 this population of butterflies was described as a new species – Violet Copper (Paralucia crosbyi) (see www.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/aen.12688) due to consistent differences between this and the original known populations of P. spinifera.

 

I guess this species has been overlooked, as few would bother going out to look for such a small butterfly in late winter in one of the coldest parts of mainland Australia at this time of year. A hardy little creature, until recently completely unknown, living close to Australia’s capital city. Just goes to show there is stuff out there to find.

A cherry blossom is the flower of any of several trees of genus Prunus, particularly the Japanese cherry, Prunus serrulata, which is called sakura after the Japanese (桜 or 櫻; さくら).

Cherry blossom is speculated to be native to the Himalayas.[4] Currently it is widely distributed, especially in the temperate zone of theNorthern Hemisphere including Europe, West Siberia, India, China, Japan, Korea, Canada, and the United States. The cherry blossom is considered the national flower of Japan.

Japan gave 3,020 cherry blossom trees as a gift to the United States in 1912 to celebrate the nations' then-growing friendship, replacing an earlier gift of 2000 trees which had to be destroyed due to disease in 1910. These trees were planted in Sakura Park in Manhattan and line the shore of the Tidal Basin and the roadway in East Potomac Park in Washington, D.C. The first two original trees were planted by first ladyHelen Taft and Viscountess Chinda on the bank of the Tidal Basin. The gift was renewed with another 3,800 trees in 1965.In Washington, D.C. the cherry blossom trees continue to be a popular tourist attraction (and the subject of the annual National Cherry Blossom Festival) when they reach full bloom in early spring
