My version of the distortion theme. This sums up how I spend a lot of my time on my travels - frustrated and trapped. This is such a fantastic place and we simply couldn't get into the main bit; the best bit!

My fellow explorer and I spent so long making various climbing attempts and squeezing attempts to no avail and this was the single fruit of all our labour - the frustration shot (nicely distorted by my new lens and the grate we couldn't pass).

Used my iPhone 4 to burn in color that i wanted. These are shot with the iPhone also.

Interesting result I'd say

«Each time my friend Lara comes to the city we come here to eat at least once. The Fenicia is one of my favourites places in the city. They prepare a lot of Lebanese specialties, and the owner is a wonderful waiter and cook.

They have this curved mirror inside, and I've thought a couple of times about taking a picture here.»

A view from the front deck as we're getting into our first promising ice. It's far from representing good seal habitat, because the floes are to small, but we'll take it for now. Hoping for larger pans of ice further north.

Macro photograph of a freshly opened yellow lily. Image taken with a fisheye lens, hence there is distortion in the scale of the pistil and stamen relative to the rest of the flower.

Dutch Prog-rock heros Focus brought their inimitable style of music and performance to The Apex just a few months after their HRH Prog appearance in Great Yarmouth. Not much had changed, including Thijs van Leer's leather coat!

Pierre van der Linden got two drum solos as usual and as usual, they were both awful. He's no Neil Peart. Great guitar work from Menno Gootjes again but once more the bass of Udo Pannekeet was way too high in the mix, booming and distorting badly in the first set.

But it is This van Leer that shines of course, now 75 and still yodelling, playing the flute and getting the best from his well-travelled and rather battered Hammond organ!
