An old highschool friend of mine tossing his daughter Juniper in the air. Really liked the angle of this shot. Too bad I didn't hit them with enough light on all angles since I was shooting bright at 1/200. It gives it that not-so-hot blur, but ah well. Next time!

Despite its vivid alarm coloration, the Great Golden Digger Wasp is not an aggressive species of wasp. They tend to mind their own

Seen on our excellent trip from Calgary to the Kananaskis country to summit Prairie View Mountain.

Back in the late summer of 1989 we had a holiday near the tip of Cornwall. On the way home the traffic was horrendous and so we stopped off in Launceston and had a trip on the steam railway. At the far end of the line was this dinosaur like, homemade, contraption of a backactor mounted on a railway wheels. Lest We Forget!

It is ANZAC Day here in OZ on which we remember the Men and Women who have served their country in The Australian and New Zealand Army Corps during Wartime. They went to the Boer war and have continued to answer the call in every major conflict , and serve and die, even as we view this, in Afghanistan and Iraq.

(Digger is an Australian and New Zealand military slang term for soldiers from Australia and New Zealand. It originated during World War I.)

I found These pictures , in negative form, among the belongings of a loved one after he passed away. They are pics of him and his unit serving in North Africa in the early days of WW2. These men came to be known as 'The Rats of Tobruk'. He then went on to serve in Papua New Guinea on the kokoda track.

Everyone loves diggers. Vignette added in post.

Large backhoe near the end of the Texas City Dike. Not visible from here was a dredger working on the Texas City Ship Channel. I suspect this machine was working with it, though not working at the time I took the photo.

Our pubs are once again closed during the latest Covid restrictions to try and stem the case numbers which has risen alarmingly since the main Lockdown eased. My local, the iconic Diggers pub, is doing takeaway while they can't hav people drinking inside, so I stopped and got a four pint jug filled with draught ale on the way home for work. Decent beer for a good price for me and a little bit of support for my local

I love taking pictures of Backhoes. I don't know why.

I know it's just a piece of machinery but there is something I love about this shot. The lighting, the grass and, of course, the fact that it's recorded on the superb Kodak Ektar film which oozes detail and tonal silkiness :-)

We've recently had a pergola and trellis erected in the garden. Not only does it provide a very attractive garden feature, it's also very popular as a warming-up spot for insects in the morning. Today (as well as a variety of other invertebrates), there were about a dozen of these male Mellinus arvensis digger wasps using it.
