We had a cloudy day yesterday with a few showers, as the sun was starting to set last night it looked like it was going to maybe pop out for a bit, so the pup and I hopped in the truck and went for a little drive. As I got closer to the lake I could see this starting to develope so we thought we better stop for a try. Have to admit ma nature truly blessed me with a fantastic sight.

Took this shot this morning just before going out to feed the horses, when I first got up it didn't look like the morning sun and light was going ot cooperate at all. So when this started to develope the Pup and I ran out with the camera and had to give it a try .

I should mention that one of my horses was looking over my shoulder as I took this shot

Meet the "Great Golden Digger Wasp".
No, judging by it's name it is not a wasp that seeks out middle-aged men with a good salary and a hefty 401 K (RRSP) account, the name relates to it's colouration .... the head and thorax are covered in a layer of golden hairs ... and how it lays and provides for it's eggs.
These non-aggressive wasps feed mainly on plant nectar but as the name implies "dig" tunnels into areas of soft soil. The females will dig multiple tunnels and when out on their forays the females will capture insects and sting them which will paralyze the insect, not kill it. She will then take the paralyzed insect back to a tunnel, drag it inside and lay an egg on the still live but immobile insect. She will exit the tunnel and conceal the entrance. The egg will hatch and the larvae will have a source of food to develope over the fall and winter until it emerges next spring. Males emerge to breed with the females, females emerge and construct the tunnels for it's nesting activities, so the cycle can continue.
While capturing insects for her egg laying efforts, these wasps are often chased and stripped of their prey by birds, so the female is often searching for prey to use for her egg laying chores.

Macro Mondays 20/02/17 theme B&W
Lots of us here started our passion for photography with good old 35mm film.So when I hear the words black and white it always reminds me of the days when I mainly shot in B&W so I could develope my own film and print my own photographs (I know this is 35mm colour film but I wanted to put a little twist into the B&W bit).
With the days of digital cameras I tend think that back then I was not a better photographer but a more careful one and it's something that I have lost when using my digital camera.When we had only 24 or 36 photo opportunities to get perfect shots we made sure everything was set up perfectly.We would then take the shots and the have to wait and see what came out.Now we have card that can hold 1000+ pics so if we check our screens and it not correct we just delete and try again or just adjust it on the PC,we can set up reset,shoot at different angles, under different lighting all day long if we like.So to all you that remember and shot with 35mm or any other film size and to the ones that still do I salute you....Happy Macro Monday.

Islandic Horses are adapted to the poor grassland of their Icelandic origin. The rich Continental pastures would cause them to develope overweight and metabolic deseases. So they are kept on poor grassland here too, in order to keep them in good health.
If they had their choise, they'd prefer the fat pastures, though.

I have never been untrue.....never will be in life...from the time I died three times and came back......fourteen years ago...........I know what I said was tough...perhaps even misunderstood by some........NEVER meant that those who take pride in explore should not do so....as I do not take pride in....just meant there is a flawed system that gives a false gratification to some.............be aware....find gratification in your own works...not someone elses words of support..first and foremost and if working the system to your advantage...do not wear it as a badge...because that badge comes with a price..if not today then further down the road when you have to survey your life and false pride. I know...what life is...people and all..sometimes get hung up on the fake...that is a sense of false pride as well...working upon that. DO NOT begrudge who still like the explore thing.....to each his own............Just being a voice expressing truths as I know them.........."TODAY"

The image developed from RAW has more detail and dynamic latitude. But it takes time to develope and edit. I am posting the same image done instantly as jpeg by the camera just to show how effective a sooc can be in an relatively old, tiny 16 mpx camera! And perhaps conveying the scene essence (intrinsic content...) better than the color "original".
This is "Monochrome" picture profile in a Panasonic MFT body and my favorite focal length... 30-35 mm (60 to 70 mm full frame equivalent). It always works!
B+W F-PRO 46 mm circular-polar filter over tiny neat Panasonic 35-100mm f/4.0-5.6 zoom, aperture fully open at 35mm. This lens fits nicely the GM1's miniature body. The only problem with the GM1 is its LCD screen which is too dark in bright sun / its lack of the viewfinder, which makes it difficult to compose. Edited in Affinity Photo 2.0.4, sharpened in IrfanView 4.62

I like to capture photos in the dark...shadows has always been one of my favourite subjects..

I'm trying to develope the concepts & light setup.
Opened my eyes at 06.15 on Saturday morning and looked out of the window. I could see a little red in the sky so got washed and dressed and rushed downstairs, grabbed my stuff and made haste to the nearest - decent place to shoot this from. On the way I could see the light beginning to fade and I very nearly turned the car around. Then it started to develope again so I carried on. This is 3 shots merged into a HDR image to give more detail in the clouds and lift the silhouettes from the boats. #BeautifulHartlepool
After spending some time in a sort of ''gap'' of what to do next, instead of thinking more, I decided to take my camera and shoot- whatever comes to my mind. The only thing I know was that, it would be something different than before- but the change would develope in smaller steps.
My first victim in this ''passing stage'' was Liza, a very very sweet model, who helped me a lot with my last shooting.
Until I find my new voice, there will be some more experimental, more on ''mood changes''..
In this shoot, Liza asked me " what is that exactly you want? Dramatic, cinematic or else?"
I replied, " imagine, somehow you have passed to another alternative demonsion, which is alien to you. You are partly trapped there. the only way to communicate with your own real world is a transmition from MW frequency which is something you need to find. "
Surprisingly, she understood what I mean :))
This one really caught me by surprise, I'd gotten up cause it looked like a nice sunrise would develope, so after sitting in the kitchen having my morning coffe and watching it, I thought nothing was going to happen.
Sure glad I was able to get this cause it;s been quite a spell since we had a decent sunrise/set.
Luckily I had just gotten ready to go feed the horses when this started to develope, so I rushed to grab the camera and the pup and I ran out. The snow was way over my knees to get to this spot and the pup even had to struggle to keep up.
Really like the way it turned out and if you want to press L I think it;s worth the effort.

Yikes! Back to work, lots of action coming up, tons of holidayshots to develope = no time to go out and shoot some propper image...
So this is (what was thought to be) the time-saving Plan B, until I found out it wasn´t that easy... ;-)

lca . today the sunshine woke me up very early, and i was in Chiang Kai-shek at 9:30 wasting infrared film with my new wratten #12 filter, wish the pics be good and find a place to develope that. The light was great at least with lc-a and ct precisa film... i'm wasting too much film this days :)))
So I moved to Krakow and I have to find a place where I could develope and print my films. If you know where I can find a place near to the city center just tell me :)

HDR black and white photography by Timothy Selvage. HDR with figure blended in at higher ISO. There was more info in the highlights but I decided to create a more realistic feel to this image. Just because you have all the avaliable information doesn't necessarily mean you have to show it. Well, that's how I'm feeling... maybe only until I sort out my graphics card.
I've been wanting to develope a new non-destructive workflow using smart objects, filters in combination with layer masks, however my poor laptop keeps dying on me. I think that the graphics card isn't up to the job which resulted in me processing some of my images in a more simple way (until I can either fix my graphics card, or upgrade my computer).

The most flowers I have ever seen on this neglected Rhododendron.. It has taken years to develope into a large flowering shrub.

Yesterday was unseasonably warm up here, with some crazy goofy sky's all day, so last night the pup and I headed down to the river to see what would develope. This is what we got which again is not common around here at all, Cause I've never seen a sunset like this one with so much red in it around here in the 15 years of living in this area.
