The Epworth League built the Hotel Epworth to house visitors to the St. Louis World's Fair in 1904. After the Fair, it was renamed the Park Hotel, and became a popular residential hotel. This photograph shows the east facade of the building. The dense group of saplings in the foreground is actually the nursery for Parkview Subdivision, just to the east. Today, this building at Melville and Washington belongs to Washington University.

A shot from a recent visit to the Delmar Loop in St. Louis, MO This was taken from a window on the 5th floor of the Moonrise Hotel, looking across Delmar Blvd.

In June of 1956, the Stivers Lincoln-Mercury Showroom at 6320 Delmar Boulevard caught fire and burned. Several fire engines were on site when this photograph was taken. University City fire fighters Tom Ryan and Doc Hewitt were manning the hose on the aerial truck. The sidewalk was crowded with spectators as smoke from the fire filled the sky.

The Woman's National Daily Building, designed by Herbert C. Chivers, was also known as the Egyptian Building. The exterior was finished in Georgian marble with copper cornices. The lawn was terraced and no landscape plants were used, adding to the starkness of the building.
