This was painted in London between 1970 and 1971, and shows Hockney's friends Ossie Clark and Celia Birtwell with their cat Percy.

In 2023 Salts Mill at Saltaire in West Yorkshire displayed David Hockney's biggest picture - a 90.75 metres wide frieze recording the changing seasons in and around his French garden in Normandy.

The work joins together some of the 220 iPad pieces Hockney created during 2020. He comments on the work: "the viewer... will walk past it like the Bayeux tapestry, and I hope they will experience in one picture the year in Normandy".

I took Kitty to PetSmart this morning to get her nails trimmed. Afterward I came home and Darek dropped me off at Bob & Max's on his way to work. Bob, Max & I had lunch at The Chicken Ranch before heading to the Palm Springs Art Museum to see the David Hockney exhibit. I was a fun day.

These pictures are inspired by the short but influencial photographic experimentation of David Hockney. These are all pieced together in photoshop, with no out of camera manipulation, in other words, I stood in one spot and took multiple images in auto mode, then put them together in photoshop.

This 1997 work was inspired by drives Hockney took in Yorkshire to see his friend Jonathan Silver, who was being treated for cancer.

There was an exhibition of some of the work David Hockney undertook while spending the COVID-19 period in Normandy. In the late 1970s, David Hockney realized that the use of perspective gave the world an illusory representation. His discovery of Chinese painting, which refuted the single vanishing point and the immobility of the viewer, consolidated his position. This recent panorama testifies to this. "If we are alive, we are in motion!" the artist asserts.

As David Hockney called it... 'Secret Knowledge'. Aptly named in the instance he was discussing in his book on how the Renaissance Artist 'cheated' by using a primitive form of .. well .. photography. Here, there is a special pleasure in finding out of the way pieces of work, not to all tastes, but in these cases, again, the graffiti pieces work well. The 1st is on the gate into one of Booth's annexes, at the North end of Rotherham near both the GC line and the Rotherham Canal. The 2nd piece, adorns one of the bridge abutments of the bridge which carried a mineral line over from the vast complex of lines and works at Templeborough where the old Steel Peach and Tozer Blast Furnaces were located, the site of which is now Centenary Park. The bridge went over the River Don near the Citroen garage and went past my grand mother's house on the aptly named .. River St. This house would now be in the centre of the roundabout near Bow Bridge. The line continued on an embankment and fanned out into a vast array of sidings on land which is now occupied by 'Templebrook Enterprise Park' (Nice!). The Don is now in flood due to the persistent, gentle rains over the last 3 days or so. Finally, the remains of the vast edifice that was the RHM building is in the background, the last structures will be removed in the next few weeks and this will forever alter the scene around here, like the removal of much else has done...

Salts Mill - Bradford UK.

An interesting place. A beautiful Grade II listed building that houses a permanent exhibition of works by Bradford born artist David Hockney. Stunning.

These portraits of guards at London's National Gallery are from 1999-2000. They were inspired by portraits drawn by Jean Auguste Dominique Ingres.

On the top row is Devlin Crow, Jack Kettlewell, and Maria Vasquez, and on the bottom row are Vincent Simon, Ron Lillywhite, and Katherine Dooley.

Apparently this was quite a controversial entry into the parade.

David Hockney created this picture (on his iPad), from the garden of his house in Normandy, France. He then sent it, along with eight others, to Will Gompertz (Arts Editor for BBC News) for everyone to see and enjoy.

A bust of Sir Titus keeps a watchful eye on goings-on at Salt's Mill, Saltaire. I can't help but wonder what he'd make of David Hockney, whose works figure large in this place…
