D1 CHL772 Daimler CVD6/Willowbrook DP35F. New 1949. Hastings & District became a separate company in May 1983, and operated the two AEC Regal open-top buses in Hastings. This bus was acquired in October 1985 and was to be used alongside the Regals on tours and for hire. CHL772 was one of a pair of Daimlers new to Bullock & Sons, and four months after delivery this company was taken over by West Riding.

The Daimler Motor Co was founded by Gottleib Daimler about 1886 in Cannstatt in Germany.
Richard Simms, a young British engineer was much impressed with Daimler engine and acquired the Daimler patents to British empire in 1890. Harry Lawson bought these from Simms in 1896 and he formed The Daimler Motor Syndicate, and so two Daimler motor companies were formed, in Germany and England, each being totally independent of each other. The English company built the first Daimler in Coventry in 1897. The company built Daimlers at Coventry until about the 1970s, and today just exists in name badge form.

One of my real pleasures is my collection of drawings, and that of the Aldridge Transport Museum. Today, I wanted to see the details of the rear hub construction of the 1935 Daimler COG5. So a quick look at Birmingham CT's original boxes of contract drawings, and there's just what I want.
Here is the section showing the area where the brake drums were retained to the hubs by studs and castellated nuts. With the wheels located on the cones, there was considerable clearance between the wheels and the drum.

A roaring roadster from the 1960s, this car was originally known as the Daimler Dart, but the name was quickly dropped following legal action by Chrysler for reusing the name from one of their own cars.

The DS420 began production in 1968, replacing the DR450 which had been based on the Majestic Major. Unlike its predecessor, it had no Daimler engineering, but was entirely a Jaguar product, utilising the 4.2 litre version of the Jaguar XK straight-six engine. The Queen Mother owned four of these DS240's over her lifetime. Production stopped in 1992.

Daimler Motor Company (England)
DAIMLER SET
The Daimler Motor car Company was founded in 1896 in Coventry, Warwickshire.
Joining the BSA (British Small Arms Group) in a merger in 1910 and aquired from the group by Jaguar in 1960. Jaguar retains the rights to use the Daimler brand and name but in 2007 agreed terms with the totally separate Daimler AG the company created when Daimler (Germany) and Chrysler split to share rights to the name.
