A hungry Dagger Fly at RHS Hyde Hall this afternoon! If anyone can help with a more specific ID that would be great!
Got around to taking pictures of a dagger I recently received, this one is based on an artifact and made for me based on a picture of it, the original had a bronze handle but I opted to have it made in wood.
This specific one is a German Landsknecht dagger and the original was likely to be made early 16th century.

The prompt for today was "Dagger". This is a Dirk, a Thrusting dagger, Wikipedia calls it. It's Scots name is Sgian Dubh, meaning Black Knife. This sketch is based on my own Sgian Dubh which I only wear with highland dress at weddings.

All month I have had something like this in mind. Very much inspired by the enigmatic Pascal , and his SHIPs from last year (hence the wood floor shot)
Content inspired by one of our LUG members who passed away this past Spring. The pieces were from our BULK order, meant for him and he was a big fan of Agents of SHIELD. This one's for you Chirs!

This species more resembles the wainscots (Mythimna spp.) than its closer relations, and because it also has a powdery appearance used to be known as the Powdered Wainscot.
There are two broods, flying in May, then again during July and August.
The larvae feed on common reed (Phragmites australis) and a number of other plants associated with the habitat.
