cut & paste paper collage using vintage ephemera and tracing paper for @knightsclive’s Corporeal Gestures call representing the human action of resisting the earth’s pull.
I thought I had to make a bit of an effort after the shot I posted yesterday. Unfortunately I'm going through a bit of a 'can't-be-arsed' phase so I'm willing to post almost anything to get it out the way.
From what I've seen on other 365ers streams this happens to everyone at some point so I've decided not to worry about it too much and stick at it till I'm back on form.
Today's photo is an excellent example of me not really giving two shits - I couldn't even be bothered to try and get some textures on the go.
I got as far as exporting this shot from Lightroom before deciding that I had to do something to make it look more interesting. Even if it meant ruining the shot.
So . . . this is what happened. It's loosely based on a couple of shots I've seen on Flickr, but not as ambitious or good.
I'm lucky that the end result kind of represents my current state of mind (otherwise it'd just be pretentious crap right?) - there's a lot been goin' on in the brain of Daz lately - nothing bad, but lots to think about all the same.
I like how this has ended up, I'm sure I could've done more with it but it took a fair bit of time to knock this together, there's at least ten layers in there I think and setting the layer blending options each time was a royal pain in the rectum.
I did consider realigning each part of the image to make it a bit more abstract but that, to me, would've pushed it over a line I didn't want to cross.
I'm quite pleased as well that for better or worse I've got something a bit different from any other shot so far in my 365.
Interested to hear what you think - did I add to the shot or fuck it up a treat?

Two little dicky birds is a traditional finger rhyme which has accompanying hand/ finger gestures that go with the ryhme.
"Two little dicky birds sitting on a wall
One named Peter, One named Paul
Fly away Peter, fly away Paul
Come back Peter, come back Paul. "
This is my eighth postcrossing card and it is going to Alexandre in Brazil. I had a dream about a hummingbird the other morning that inspired this piece. It is constructed with papers, ink, colored pencil, and string. I really like this one a lot. The hummingbird was hand-drawn on grocery bag paper :)
